Welcome back to Ankle Surgery Update - Science Guiding Treatment in 2023! This time we are honored to talk to the first authors Dr. Johansen on his multicenter Study entitled "Surgical treatment of tibialis anterior tendon rupture" published in FAS.

In this episode we had the distinct pleasure to talk to Mr. Zaki Arshad and Mr. Maneesh Bhatia on their recent paper entitled “Gastrocnemius Release in the Management of Chronic Plantar Fasciitis: A Systematic Review” published in Foot and Ankle International. This time, we have the honor to have Professor Stefan Rammelt and Dr. Annika Neumann with us. They recently published an astonishing study entitled “Ankle fractures involving the posterior malleolus: patient characteristics and 7‑year results in 100 cases” in the Archives of Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery. We had a great discussion around the third and fourth malleolus including tips and tricks during surgery. We hope you will enjoy this interview just as much as we did!

Welcome back to Ankle Surgery Update – Science Guiding Treatment! We know that we have been offline for quite a while. But we have been merging our orthopaedic and trauma departments and restructure our new Musculusceletal University Cluster. We are all the more happy to pick up our podcast to stay connected with you all. This time, we got Tim Schepers with us. A Trauma Surgeon at the AMC Trauma Unit Amsterdam with an exceptional experience in complex foot and ankle injuries and their residuals. He has published more than 150 peer-reviewed papers. The paper we would love to discuss with him today has just been published in the Bone and Joint Journal and is entitled: “Functional outcome of routine versus on-demand removal of the syndesmotic screw: a multicenter randomized controlled trial”.

This time, we are especially excited as we are having two awesome guests with us, Benedikte Ræder and Mette Andersen. They are the first and senior authors of two of the most outstanding trials comparing suture button stabilization to single syndesmotic screw fixation in unstable syndesmotic injuries. One study is entitled “Randomized trial comparing suture button with single 3.5 mm syndesmotic screw for ankle syndesmosis injury: similar results at 2 years.” published in the Acta Orthopaedica and the other RCT is entitled “Better outcome for suture button compared with single syndesmotic screw for syndesmosis injury: five-year results of a randomized controlled trial” published in the Bone and Joint Journal. As indicated in the title of the two studies, they found conflicting results. And today we have the great privilege to discuss these with them.

Hey everybody! Welcome to our fourth episode of the Ankle Surgery Update. We would like to thank you all for supporting us and the feedback we have received. Our main intention is to present and discuss recent literature. But through your valuable feedback, it became apparent to us, that literature, throughout the world, is interpreted and lived differently. Therefore, we decided to introduce a new section to our podcast: Interviews with authors and experts in the field. Therefore, it is our great pleasure to introduce our first interview guest to you: Benn Boshell! Ben is a podiatrist from the UK and Head of Service at Hatt Health & Movement Clinic. He is the author of “The Plantar Fasciitis Bible” and hosts the podcast “The Heel Pain Expert Podcast”. The three of us had a great chat on insertional tendinopathy of the Achilles tendon.
