Health & Wellness Podcasts

Alison Perry-Davies’s belief is that wherever we come from, we have all known some level of pain, loss and trauma, these things do not need to define us. She doesn’t ignore that these things have happened; however, she decided this is not the way her story ends. Using integrated creative therapies along with sound and vibrational therapies she continues to explore and share complimentary healing modalities. In this podcast she shares her story as well as having many other people sharing their stories about ways that they have found their healing and their way to find joy. Some of the guests will include authors, artists, painters, singers, songwriters, musicians, doctors, healers of different modalities, people who love to organize people who love to build things, people who find ways of raising dogs and kids and, you know, it really doesn't matter exactly what it is. It's all about finding our joy, and finding a way to make life work.

Ali and Ali talk about fear and love and finding what we are born to do and doing it. About the Guest: Shaman ALI OLSHAN Nomad from the African Massai Tribe Ali is an African refugee who immigrated to the United States in 2005. Ali recognized his intuitive healing abilities at a young age and developed his abilities through his association with other US and African healers. He bowed out of the corporate world to return to Africa to learn and practice the ancient healing powers passed through generations by the Elders of his Grandfathers’ nomadic Maasai tribe. Sadaqatun Jariyah, Ongoing Charity

3/20/2024
Ali and Nafisa talk about faith and art and healing and Sadaqatun Jariya, Ongoing Charity. About the Guest: In the world of art, I find my passion in Islamic art. It's a beautiful blend of calligraphy, calligrafitti, and tezhip art. These artistic forms allow me to express the rich cultural heritage in unique ways. But my journey doesn't stop there. I've embraced mindful drawing as a way to bring calmness to the mind. It's not just about creating art; it's about creating a peaceful space for the soul. As an art therapist, I've discovered the incredible power of art in healing. It goes beyond colors and strokes; it's a tool for connecting with emotions and finding inner balance. I guide others on this journey of self-discovery and healing through my artistic expertise. Teaching is another facet of my life. I am an educator who believes in sharing the beauty and significance of Islamic art. I want to inspire a deep appreciation for these art forms, helping others understand their cultural roots and contemporary relevance. Poetry is my way of painting with words. I express emotions and reflections through verses that capture the essence of moments. My writing extends to journaling, where I document thoughts and feelings, often accompanied by visual expressions that tell stories without words. Empowering women holds a special place in my heart. Through workshops, I use art as a means to inspire and build confidence. These sessions are not just about creating art; they're about creating a space where women can discover their strength and celebrate their uniqueness. Art, for me, is a universal language that connects people. Through mindful drawing, poetry, and workshops, I invite others to join me on a journey of self-expression and growth. I believe that art has the power to transcend boundaries, fostering understanding and appreciation among diverse cultures and generations. In the simplicity of strokes and the depth of colors, my bio unfolds as a story of passion, creativity, and a dedication to making a positive impact through the transformative power of art. Wonderment Brings Hope

3/13/2024
Tom and Ali talk about music and mathematics and connections. About the Guest: Born and raised in Toronto, Tom has a Master’s Degree in Mathematics and is an MBA graduate of York University. Tom moved to Vancouver in 1984 and began working in the film and entertainment industry. His timing was impeccable in that he had the opportunity to work alongside like-minded individuals who played an integral role in creating a billion-dollar+ industry for British Columbia. In 1995, Tom co-founded Rainmaker Digital Pictures Corporation ("Rainmaker"). Prior to this he was President and CEO of Gastown Post & Transfer, Western Canada's largest independent post-production facility. Gastown, which evolved into Rainmaker, provided a complete range of digital post-production services for national and international film, television, and video producers. Some of the TV projects Tom and his team post-produced include 21 Jump Street, The X-Files and Millennium. On the feature film side of the business, Tom had the pleasure of providing services for Legends Of The Fall (Brad Pitt) which won an Academy Award for best cinematography (John Toll) in 1995. In January 1996, Tom started his career/business coaching practice, which was focused on human capital development, strategic planning and executive training within the sports, entertainment, and communication industries. He also created and instructed a course on "Creating Your Competitive Edge" for the University of British Columbia’s award-winning Entertainment Administration certificate program. In addition to speaking at various functions and conferences, Tom has sat on a number of provincial, national and international boards covering a wide range of interests. Throughout his career he has supported the concept of community investment and has given much of his time to charitable and not-for-profit endeavors. A lifelong follower and participator in sports, Tom is a firm believer in the role sport plays in the developing of values and leadership, He spent twenty years on the board of the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame & Museum supporting its quest of “honoring the past ... inspiring the future.” During his tenure there, Tom produced a fundraising limited edition signed print for the 1994 Commonwealth Games (Victoria, BC), commemorating the 40th anniversary of the legendary 1954 Miracle Mile (Vancouver, BC), a race that resulted in England's Sir Roger Bannister and Australia's John Landy, both breaking the four minute barrier. Over the past 25 years, Tom has also studied and consulted on the impact of digital technology in business. During that period of time, he introduced the online world to his music creation, “Moments In Time," a curated walk down memory lane. Since August 2000, this five-minute feature, written in a style similar to that of the legendary Paul Harvey's “The Rest of the Story,” continues to air weekly on the web via Treasure Island Oldies and came out in book and e-book formats in the fall of 2021 - "Moments In Time: Stories About Artists And Songs Of The 50s, 60s, & 70s. For Fans Of Music ... From A Music Fan." The book is unique in that it is interactive, marrying the "old" with the "new," as each two page story concludes with the title of the featured song and a QR code that allows you to listen to it via your smartphone camera. To date, the book has won 5 awards and now resides in the gift shop and the Library & Archives of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame & Museum in Cleveland. Tom's eclectic background, "larger than life" stories, and energy has made him a favorite of podcasters, reporters, and TV/radio hosts who have previously interviewed him. He is committed and excited to do more. http://www.mitstories.com

Women and Wrestling and Warriors, Oh My!

12/27/2023
Ali and Becky talk about the amazing community of wrestlers and their fans. What it means to be a woman on this incredibly physical stage. About the Guest: Becky Beech is a professional wrestler in the Pacific Northwest. Making her debut in June 2022 in Victoria, BC, she has established herself as a mainstay in 365 Pro Wrestling on Vancouver Island. Equally comfortable wrestling men and women in the squared circle, she can be found anywhere a belt, or a participation ribbon may be earned. Becky’s alter ego is Nicole Roth, a Program Director at a local non-profit supporting adults with disabilities. A former self proclaimed “Theatre geek”, she became enamoured with independent wrestling for its over the top theatrics and storylines. No stranger to rough and tumble sports, having played Roller Derby and rugby in her adult life, a leap into the world of Professional Wrestling seemed like a marriage made in heaven of her two loves, hitting people and overacting. Becky and Nicole are here to prove to everyone that showing up and celebrating yourself, all of yourself, is the best thing you can do. They are here to show that participation means being afraid, being uncertain, and doing it anyway. Showing up is the first part of the battle.
