We're looking at a lack of accessible communication. If we start to look at how does someone who cannot hear or see or walk access my products and services, then you start to think of it in a more inclusive way.- Donna Herrington 3. As we develop healthier communities, this is going to be so much more sustainable that everybody is included, everybody feels that they have a role to play, everybody plays their role and when we all come together amazing things happen. It's only a win-win for everyone.- Debbie Van Grieken @MoyaaShea #StartSmall

( plastic free foundation website) That is mind blowing. Just think if you can contribute to this number to what a big impact that has on our planet 8.5 out of 10 people made changes that became lasting habits.( plastic free foundation website) And that's really what needs to happen here. 2. So why plastic free July? Well, virtually every piece of plastic ever manufactured still exists in some form today. Single use plastics are not being recycled effectively. And we're seeing the damaging effects on our environment, especially in our oceans and our wildlife. This will have catastrophic ramifications. ( Plastic Free Foundation 3. I love that the campaign really aims to empower us. And that reassures us that you don't need to strive for zero waste right off the get go. Because overwhelming us will just create a lot of stress. And if it's too difficult to sustain, it will make us feel like failures and cause us to give up. This is the last thing they want. Remember what I always say if you're feeling overwhelmed, start small. @MoyaaShea #StartSmall

Sustainable Swimwear with August Dyrberg

4/13/2021
Have you ever been frustrated at the pollution of our oceans, the waste that gets dumped into our beautiful bodies of water? Well, that’s exactly what happened to August Dyrberg. An avid adventurer and scuba diver, as August learned about the mass amount of plastic waste in the ocean he decided to do something about it, and thus Marda Swimwear was born. Using recycled plastic bottles August worked with other experts in the clothing industry to use the bottles to create a luxurious and one-of-a-kind bathing suit. MARDA is a modern men’s swimwear brand obsessed with creating a better world by using plastic from our oceans and landfills to make premium swim shorts that are made to last. Our philosophy finds the harmony between plastic and design to create highly sustainable swim trunks brought to life with the best in Japanese fabric technology. August also shares with us what it was like to begin such an arduous task with no background in business, and how he figured out the process and built such a successful business in the process. Topics Discussed: Making fabrics from recycled plastic bottles.Going into business without a business background.Making sustainable clothing that is high-end and functional.Ensuring the quality of the product and those making it from start to finish. -- SUBSCRIBE TO START SMALL: iTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/start-small/id1537390467 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/49cOe3NI7OHSXACpUsQSkC Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcjQKGox5xnowa3nD1J5vGQ Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/start-small TuneIn: https://tunein.com/podcasts/Health--Wellness-Podcasts/Start-Small-p1380487/ Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9tb3lhYXNoZWFidXR0ZXIubGlic3luLmNvbS9wbGF5ZXJmbQ Connect with Marda Swimwear: Website: https://mardaswimwear.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/marda_swimwear/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mardaswimwear Twitter: https://twitter.com/mardaswimwear Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.dk/Mardaswimwear/_created/ Connect with us! Have you ever been having a rough day and you think to yourself, “I could really go for some chocolate.”? Yeah me too. But did you know that the chocolate industry as a whole is involved in so much human slavery and trafficking? That thought kind of takes away the sweetness and leaves a bitter aftertaste. But there are many fighting to bring fairness and ethical responsibility to this industry. In this episode, I sit down with Tye of Seek 4 Fair, who is on a mission to change the way the chocolate industry works. She works diligently to provide chocolate that is made fairly and gives everyone involved in the product creation what they deserve, all the way down to the farmers. Through her research, Tye offers you access to these ethically made chocolates and works to eliminate poverty from the cocoa communities. I think you are really going to love this topic as we dive into it.
