The Work Podcast Episode 53 - Own It

4/17/2026
Just got back from a couple weeks of travel and had some time to really think, reflect, and honestly zoom out on life a bit. This episode is a solo one—Greg’s out this week—but I wanted to sit down and talk through something that’s been on my mind after a post I made sparked way more backlash than I expected. Not because of the topic itself, but because of what the reaction revealed about how people are thinking right now. At the core of it, this episode is about ownership. Not perfection, not control over everything—because that’s not reality—but ownership over what you can control. Your health, your habits, your mindset, and the downstream impact those things have—not just on you, but on your kids and generations to come. There’s a lot we don’t know, but there’s also a lot we do know, and ignoring that in favor of a victim mindset is one of the most disempowering ways to live. I’m not here to judge anybody or point fingers. I’m just sharing how I see the world and what’s helped me move forward with purpose. If there’s one takeaway, it’s this: you don’t need perfect conditions to make progress—you just need to take ownership of the hand you’ve been dealt and play it to the best of your ability. That shift alone can change everything. The Work Podcast Episode 52 - No Short Cuts

4/10/2026
This episode was a bit more off-the-cuff, but honestly, that’s where some of the most real conversations happen. We started out talking about conversations with people who see the world completely differently—whether that’s vegans, opposing ideologies, or just people outside your normal circle. And the big takeaway is simple: we need more of that. Not echo chambers. Not algorithms telling you what to think. Real dialogue. Because right now, most people aren’t actually thinking for themselves—they’re outsourcing their opinions to headlines, social media, and whatever narrative is trending. That led us into a deeper conversation about philosophy, and honestly, that’s the stuff that fires me up more than anything. Training, nutrition—that’s all important—but learning how to think is the real foundation. Because once you lose that, you start chasing shortcuts, hacks, and quick fixes in every area of life. And the truth is, anything I’m actually proud of—anything that’s lasted—came from time, effort, and consistency. There’s no hack for that. You can’t fake it, you can’t shortcut it, and trying to usually just puts you further behind in the long run. So we’re doubling down on that mindset—both in life and in training. Moving away from what’s trendy and easy, and leaning into what actually works, even if it’s harder. More volume, more effort, more intention. Same thing applies outside the gym too—whether it’s parenting, health, or building something meaningful. The world is obsessed with fast results and surface-level wins, but that’s a race to the bottom. If you want something real—strength, health, legacy—you’ve got to play the long game. No shortcuts. The Work Podcast Episode 51 - Let’s Talk Labs

4/3/2026
This episode was a solid reminder that progress comes from understanding your body, not fearing it. We walked through blood work, hormones, and lipid panels, and the big takeaway is simple: track trends, don’t obsess over single numbers. After years of consistent ketogenic living, my markers - insulin, inflammation, overall stability - have stayed steady. That flies in the face of a lot of the narratives out there, but the data over time is what matters, not the noise. We also dug into the realities of pushing your body—whether through contest prep or extended fasting. Hormones will downregulate in a deficit, that’s just part of the game. But being fat-adapted changes the experience entirely. You’re not dragging yourself through the day - you’re still performing, still thinking clearly, still getting work done. And fasting, more than anything, exposes your habits. It shows you how much of your eating is actually hunger versus routine, boredom, or emotion. The bigger picture here is mindset. Right now, the world is chasing shortcuts -quick fixes, drugs, anything that avoids doing the work. But none of that replaces discipline. If the habits aren’t in place, the results won’t last. The people who actually succeed are the ones willing to do what’s hard, consistently, over time. That’s the difference—and that’s who we’re speaking to. The Work Podcast Episode 50 - Where People Fail

3/27/2026
This episode is a straight-up reality check—because too many people are out here majoring in the minors and completely neglecting the fundamentals. We talk about the conference, the travel, the research on cholesterol and metabolic health—all important stuff—but none of it matters if you’re not doing the basics. You’ve got people obsessing over biomarkers, blue light, and nuanced data… yet they’re not training, they’re not moving, and they’re not taking ownership of their body. That’s the disconnect. We also get into this massive surge in “protein” products hitting the market. Everything is protein now—but most of it is just ultra-processed garbage with a label slapped on it. More protein isn’t the goal. Better inputs are the goal. If you’re not reading ingredients and thinking critically, you’re getting played. At the core of it all is discipline and purpose. If you don’t have a clear direction, you drift—and when you drift, you default to comfort. Training is the antidote to that. It builds structure, resilience, and carries over into every area of your life. Bottom line: stop looking for hacks. Train hard. Eat with intention. Take responsibility. You get one body—don’t waste it. The Work Podcast Episode 49 - Long Gevity

3/13/2026
Longevity has been on my mind a lot lately. This past weekend was the Arnold Classic. You look at those guys on the IFBB stage — absolutely massive human beings — and there’s no denying the level of discipline and work that goes into that. But it also highlights something important: enhanced bodybuilding and natural bodybuilding are essentially two completely different sports. When people say “the highest level,” they’re usually referring to the Mr. Olympia or Arnold stage. And sure, if you’re competing in enhanced bodybuilding, that’s the top of the mountain. But I’m not playing that sport. I’m competing in natural bodybuilding, and the highest level there is winning Worlds. Two totally different arenas, two totally different priorities. And when you start looking at it through the lens of longevity, things get even clearer. I had a client compete at the Arnold this weekend — Janis — who is 70 years old. Natural athlete. Keto. She went out there and broke world records in the squat, bench, deadlift, and total. At seventy years old. That, to me, is winning on a whole different level. Most people at 70 can barely carry groceries. They’re using walkers and canes. Meanwhile she’s pulling over 300 pounds off the floor and planning to keep doing it for as long as she possibly can. That’s the kind of outcome I want to stack the chips in favor of. Because the question isn’t just how high you can climb for a brief moment. The real question is how long you can perform at a high level. Natural bodybuilding, done properly, gives you that runway. When you prioritize nutrition, progressive overload, recovery, and discipline, you’re building a system that supports your body for decades. You can keep improving year after year. You don’t have to peak in your 20s and then watch everything fall apart. I plan on competing for a long time. I’ve got my sights set on winning Worlds in 2027, but whether that happens or not, the cool thing about natural bodybuilding is that you can keep showing up. You can keep getting better. You can keep pushing the needle forward. That’s the long game. We also talked about some of the biggest mistakes people make with fat loss. The internet loves to throw around the advice “eat less, move more.” And technically, sure — that’s not wrong. But practically speaking, it often misses the bigger picture. A lot of people who hit plateaus aren’t eating too much. They’re actually chronically under-eating. They’re running on fumes, walking 30,000 steps a day, barely consuming a thousand calories, and wondering why their body refuses to drop more weight. At that point the metabolism is suppressed. Hormones are downregulated. Recovery is shot. That’s why I’m such a big believer in structured building and cutting phases. When you spend time in a surplus and allow your metabolism to ramp up, you create more runway for fat loss later. When you finally drop calories, your body actually responds. You can’t stay in a deficit forever. You have to play the long game — just like everything else. The Tribe is gearing up for a three-day fast, and we’ve got a bunch of conferences and travel coming up this year. Meatstock, Low Carb for Better Health, Hack Your Health — lots of opportunities to connect with the community and keep spreading the message. At the end of the day, everything comes back to the same principle. What can you do today to stack the chips in your favor so that you can operate at a high level for the longest possible time? That’s the game I’m playing. And honestly, I think it’s the only game worth playing. The Work Podcast Episode 48 - Retreat Recap

3/6/2026
This episode is mostly a recap of the recent Savage Retreat in Marble Falls, Texas, and honestly it was one of those weekends that reminds me why we do this in the first place. We had about ten people staying together on a big ranch property with longhorns, wide open land, pickleball courts, and a ton of great food. It was a relaxed environment where everyone could get to know each other, share ideas, and connect. Friday night we cooked a big meal, got everyone settled in, and Jamie gave a presentation about mindset and preparing mentally to do hard things before we tackled the Tough Mudder the next morning. Saturday was all about the Tough Mudder, and that ended up being a highlight of the whole weekend. The course had walls, rope climbs, mud trenches, monkey bars, electrified obstacles, and a massive climb that forced everyone to work together. Nobody got left behind. People were helping each other over obstacles, facing fears, and pushing through discomfort as a team. That’s really the whole point of these retreats — creating an environment where people can challenge themselves physically and mentally while surrounded by like-minded people. After the race we cleaned up, ate a mountain of brisket, and wrapped the night with a deeper mindset presentation about identity, goals, and building the life you actually want. On the business side, we’re celebrating eight years of Keto Brick, which is pretty wild to think about when I look back at where we started. There were years where Kristen and I were sleeping on the warehouse floor just trying to make it work. Now we’ve got an incredible team and an amazing community supporting what we do. The anniversary sale is running right now with a 15% discount stacked on top of volume discounts, and the response has been huge. Several flavors have already sold out and the team has been packing orders nonstop. None of that happens without the community, and I’m incredibly grateful for the support.
