Zen Supermom: The Mental Fitness Podcast

Health & Wellness Podcasts

I'm not a supermom. But I always wanted to be one and have it all: family, career/business that I love, AND the time for myself. But that ambition without proper stress resistance and resilience killed my mom (cancer at 48) and drove me to the edge of burnout twice. Only when I saw the disastrous effects of my anger, stress, and resentment on my little daughter, I knew I had to change... Since then, not only have I healed but I also helped thousands of other women all around the world through trauma-informed therapy and mental fitness training. And I decided to share the most vulnerable and valuable pieces of my and their journey here. Because if we got out of that dark, stuck place of feeling like a terrible mom, YOU CAN DO IT TOO. So choose the episode that speaks to you and tune in!

Ep 104: I'm Worried I Damaged My Kids By Yelling... Can I Help Them Heal?

7/26/2024
Send us a Text Message. I'm worried I traumatized my kids by yelling at them, stressing, not having time to listen or play with them... Did I damage them forever, just like my strict/yelling/stressing parents impacted my life? Or can I help them somehow? I get this question a lot on the free Mommy Tantrum Training, and in the 1-1 assessment calls I'm doing with women interested in starting this work. Often more than for themselves, they want to heal their anger (and people-pleasing) because of their children. So what is really possible? How can the healed you feel like, and what impact is that going to have on your kids? And can you even help your shy introverted son, or a manipulative, controlling, aggressive daughter change, and become a healthy, happy kid? Or is this part of their genetics and identity, and this is who they will be for the rest of their lives? Listen in, this podcast episode is for you. Watch this episode on YouTube as well! Ep 101: How Not to Yell or Shut Down When You're Overwhelmed and Overstimulated by The Noise of Your Kids

7/5/2024
Send us a Text Message. ""I struggle mostly with being overwhelmed and overstimulated and keeping calm in those situations. I do stay calm but not to the best of my ability. I feel like I’m tired a lot. I have two children aged 4 and 2." "I think my main struggles are dealing with anger in the moment when I can’t step away as I need to be present for the kids. I’ve tried lots of the usual techniques - breathing counting and they don’t work. Also overstimulation is a big thing for me - when both kids are talking/screaming/crying at the same time I feel my anger rising." Those are just two questions I received from mom fighting with overstimulation, especially with noise. How do you stay calm in these situations? How do you not yell, but also not shut down emotionally? How do you help your kids tone it down and teach them how to manage their emotions in a healthy way, without screaming their head off? Join me in this podcast episode. You're definitely not the only mom struggling with this. Catch this episode on Youtube as well! Support the Show. Send us a Text Message. Well, whenever I start feeling sorry for myself about how heavy and difficult my life is, I think of Sarah. Yes, she too wanted to be a calm mom and stop yelling at her toddler daughter. But also... This brave mom went already through more than what would be enough of pain and struggle for 2-3 lifetimes. How is she doing it? How did she heal from all of that? Listen in and do get inspired. Because if Sarah could become a perfectly imperfect, calm mom, why couldn't you? Ep 94: Why 1-1 Trauma Sessions Are Not Enough to Heal Your Uncontrollable Anger (Mental Fitness Intro)

5/31/2024
Send us a Text Message. Why parenting techniques or anger therapy could never help you stop yelling at your kids? I usually share this in our "Mommy/Daddy Tantrum" trainings. But after I explain the first key piece about healing your own childhood (generational developmental) trauma, there's only a little time left to explain the second, equally important piece - Mental Fitness. Because imagine this: your uncontrollable anger is gone. You no longer lose control over your emotions, your not screaming. But then what? What do you do when your kids are still not listening, they are still too late, still keep hitting you or their siblings, still doing the things that are not ok... How do you make them listen without punishing, or shaming them? And how do you show them a healthy example of respect, boundaries, and healthy emotional control? That's where the Mental Fitness piece comes in.
