#200 - Plyometric Training: Foundations, Programming, And Injury Prevention

7/7/2025
In this episode of the Iron Sights Podcast, we’re getting into the weeds on plyometric training — what it is, who it’s for, and most importantly, how not to screw it up. Too many people are using plyos as a glorified cardio session, skipping the prep work and ending up hurt, frustrated, or spinning their wheels. We talk about what needs to be in place before you start jumping on boxes — foundational strength, mobility, coordination, and proper warm-up protocols. We also dig into why quality matters more than quantity, how to actually integrate plyos into your training to build real power, and why understanding your physical readiness is key. We use some real-world examples, including insights from pro sports like the NBA, along with our own coaching experiences. Enjoy the show! - 25% OFF! #172 After Dark - Industry, Service & Supporting First Responders w/Kim Raimondi

6/27/2025
We’re back with another After Dark episode of the Iron Sights Podcast, and this time I’m joined by Kim Raimondi — known by some of you as Pelican Kim on Instagram. In this conversation, we get into all of it. Kim shares what it’s like working with departments and agencies all over the country, what she’s seeing from her side of the industry, and how Pelican plays a role in supporting first responders. But the deeper part of this talk is around volunteer firefighting — the training, the culture, and the challenges that come with stepping up to serve when the pager goes off. Kim’s the kind of person who’s got one foot in the corporate world and the other in the dirt with the people doing the hard jobs. That perspective makes this episode a fun, eye-opening conversation about service, support, and giving back. #171 After Dark - Knives, Combatives & Changing The Game In Law Enforcement Training w/ Wild Bill Braski

6/20/2025
Welcome back to another After Dark episode here on the Iron Sights Podcast! Today, I’m sitting down with someone who’s not only a good friend, but one of the sharpest dudes I’ve come across in the training space — Wild Bill Braski. If you’re on Instagram, you might already know the name. Bill is a military veteran and a full-time law enforcement officer who works directly in the training unit at his agency on the East Coast. He’s also a major voice in the combatives world and the founder of the Wild Bill Braski Knife & Tool Company — a brand built for real-world operators, not keyboard commandos. In this episode, we dig into how Bill approaches training inside his agency and how that’s influenced neighboring departments. His work is making a noticeable impact. We talk process, leadership, and what it takes to get real buy-in when pushing for progress in a culture that can be notoriously resistant to change. There’s a lot of wisdom here for trainers, cops, and anyone leading people through hard problems. We also get into his gear company and the mission behind the knives and tools he’s building — why he started it, what makes his gear different, and how he’s designing with the end user in mind. I own a couple of his tools myself, and I can say firsthand — they’re the real deal. This episode is packed with insight, a few laughs, and a whole lot of straight talk. Whether you’re in law enforcement, the military, or just someone who respects the people doing the hard jobs the right way — this one’s worth your time. #169 After Dark - Tamara DuMont’s Journey Into Firearms: Tragedy, Training & Women Leading The 2A Fight

6/6/2025
We’re back with another After Dark episode here on the Iron Sights Podcast, and this one’s powerful. I sat down with Tamara DuMont—a competitive shooter, firearms instructor, and the kind of voice this community needs more of. Tamara’s story is real, raw, and deeply personal. Her introduction to firearms came after a horrific tragedy: the murder of her mother by her stepfather, using a firearm. And yet, Tamara’s journey didn’t end in fear—it turned into purpose. Now, she leads a local chapter of A Girl and a Gun, the largest and most impactful women’s firearms organization in the country. She spends her days behind the gun counter, training others on the range, and building community around responsible firearms ownership—especially for women. We talk about overcoming trauma, advocating for the Second Amendment, and how to have honest conversations with people who are afraid, uninformed, or simply curious. Tamara brings healthy confidence, clarity, and grace to every conversation she’s in—and I know you’ll take something powerful from this one. - Timestamps: 04:17 Intro 05:55 Childhood & Family Dynamics 09:34 Journey Into Firearms 21:34 CCW Experience & Threat Encounter 27:23 Joining ‘A Girl And A Gun’ 31:44 Empowering Women In Gun Stores 39:26 Women & Self-Defense 43:33 Women In Gun Culture 50:32 Leadership & Community Building 55:21 Competitions & Qualifications 01:13:20 Barriers For Women 01:44:42 Firearms Training & Events 02:02:11 Women & The Second Amendment - Red Dot Fitness Training Programs: rdfprograms.com Online Membership (Full Access To All Programs & Virtual Coaching): https://www.reddotfitness.net/online-membership Virtual Coaching: https://www.reddotfitness.net/virtual-coaching Self-Guided Programs: https://www.reddotfitness.net/Self-Guided-Programs1 Connect With Us: Website - https://ironsightspodcast.com/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/ironsightspodcast/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/

#165 After Dark - Rebuilding Police Firearms Training w/ Chancey Pogue & Brian Stahl

5/9/2025
Here’s another episode coming off the annual Texas Tactical Police Officers Association Conference in Round Rock, Texas. Today’s guests are Chancey Pogue and Brian Stahl — veteran police officers, owners of Reticence Group Training Company, and the guys leading the firearms program at a large metro law enforcement agency in Texas. We dig into the philosophy behind their training methods, how they’re helping shift culture inside their agency, and what it really means to prepare officers for the job — not just check a box and call it “qualified.” Chancey and Brian are the real deal — humble, capable, and leading from the front. Enjoy this conversation and share it with your team, your agency, or anyone who needs to hear what these guys are about. - Timestamps: 00:00 Intro 03:43 SWAT School Takeaways 06:25 Brian’s Career Path 13:18 Chancey’s Journey In Law Enforcement 20:23 Training Challenges In Law Enforcement 39:38 Trainee Expectations & Instructor Engagement 42:12 Practical Skills Vs. #164 After Dark - 20 Years On SWAT: Lessons In Leadership w/ The President of TTPOA Lt. Dan Colasanto

5/2/2025
Welcome back to another After Dark episode here on the Iron Sights Podcast. In this one, I sit down with Lieutenant Dan Colasanto — a veteran cop, longtime SWAT officer, and the current President of the Texas Tactical Police Officers Association (TTPOA). We got into some real talk about law enforcement, leadership, and the evolution of the job. But what stood out most to me? Dan’s passion for his people. He trains with them, shows up for them, and they clearly show up for him. That kind of leadership matters. This episode is a conversation with a man who still loves the job and brings that energy to every part of it. Whether you’re in law enforcement, leadership, or just here to learn — you’ll want to hear what Dan has to say. - Timestamps: 00:00 Intro 04:56 First Impressions Of The Conference 07:44 Event Highlights 13:06 Personal Experiences & Career Reflections 18:16 Policing Tech Evolution 23:13 Public Perception & Communication 32:28 Context In Video Interpretation 33:57 Body-Worn Cameras & Accountability 44:52 Politics In Law Enforcement 50:55 Acquiring Resources 59:55 Budgeting & Grants 01:02:21 Equipment & Training Gaps 01:04:06 Community Engagement 01:12:58 The Value Of Networking - Red Dot Fitness Training Programs: rdfprograms.com Online Membership (Full Access To All Programs & Virtual Coaching): https://www.reddotfitness.net/online-membership Virtual Coaching: https://www.reddotfitness.net/virtual-coaching Self-Guided Programs: https://www.reddotfitness.net/Self-Guided-Programs1 Connect With Us: Website - https://ironsightspodcast.com/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/ironsightspodcast/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/

#192 - Seed Oils: The Real Story – What’s Actually Worth Paying Attention To

4/28/2025
Welcome back to another episode of the Iron Sights Podcast. Today, I’m joined by the Red Dot Fitness crew — CeCe, Ryan, and Steven — and we’re diving into a topic that’s been stirring up the nutrition space for a while now: seed oils. You’ve probably seen the arguments — some folks are planting flags hard on either side. Seed oils are either public enemy number one… or not worth worrying about at all. So what’s the real deal? In this episode, we break down the noise, sift through the latest research, and share how our perspectives have shifted — or stayed the same. I’ve taken a strong stance on this before, and while I haven’t jumped ship completely, there is new info worth considering. Enjoy the show! - 25% OFF!
