SAHM Life Isn’t Glamorous

6/13/2022
In this episode, I want to remind everyone that SAHM life truly isn’t glamorous. It is frustrating, disgusting, overwhelming, and challenging every single day. You’re saying “yes” to so much more than the “fun” aspects of being home with your children. The internet has a way of wrapping the modern-day role of homemaking into a pretty little package that looks quiet, cozy, neat, calm, and beautiful. Are there moments of that? Absolutely! But a full-time mother's role is definitely NOT neat, calm, or quiet. Let’s have a chat about the importance of understanding what we are saying yes to and why you chose this role. Warning: Many poop stories that will surely give you a belly laugh in this one, my friend. ------------ Check the brand-new blog: www.mominprocess.com/blog Join the Mom: In-Process Community: Facebook InstagramWebsite Don’t forget to check out the latest swag! Scrolling to Connect VS. Compare

6/6/2022
In this episode, I wanted to dive into the topic of scrolling. Yes, scrolling. It sure feels like this topic is discussed a lot, doesn’t it? Maybe that’s because it’s a topic where so many women struggle! We use it as an escape while justifying how we stay connected as isolated SAHMs. It’s time to ask yourself if you’re scrolling to connect truly, or if you’re scrolling to compare. Compare what you have or don’t have. Compare what you believe or don’t believe. Compare what you feel or don’t feel. Compare how you look, how your house looks, and how your family looks in the eyes of others. Social media can be a wonderful tool to reach people all across the world. But, it’s time to ask yourself the “why” behind the thumb scroll. ------------ Check the brand-new blog: www.mominprocess.com/blog Join the Mom: In-Process Community: Facebook InstagramWebsite Don’t forget to check out the latest swag! How to Live a Frugal Yet Full Life with Frugal Friends Podcast co-host, Jen Smith

6/2/2022
Ladies! I am so excited to introduce you to this incredible expert who is not only the co-host of the top-rated podcast, Frugal Friends, but also the author of two best-selling books! I’m over the moon to bring personal finance expert Jen Smith to this community in hopes of providing you with yet another awesome resource for those tough problems you’re trying to tackle in life. As SAHMs, we often manage our households on a single income. I’m always looking for ways to save a buck (preferably two) and cut back on spending while still trying to live a full life at the moment without feeling consumed with guilt when it comes to actually spending money. Is it wise to always buy cheap items? Where do we start with a basic budget? How do you navigate tough conversations around spending habits when an individual's upbringing determines their perspective on money? Can you live an abundant, full life while being frugal? What does it mean to be “frugal” anyways? All of these questions (and more) are answered in this educational and insightful podcast episode. Grab your cozy beverage! P.S. you’ll want a pen and paper for this one. Shift Your Focus From What You Didn’t Accomplish to What You DID Accomplish

5/30/2022
This episode is all about shifting our mindset and negative thoughts in order to be more fulfilled. We all have the never-ending “to-do list,” whether it’s sitting on your counter, posted on the fridge, or built up in your mind. Valuing your self-worth based on your productivity will absolutely lead to low self-esteem, de-value your role, and lead to mom burn-out at an astronomical rate. Trust me; I’ve been there. One of the fastest ways to find joy and fulfillment in your day is by shifting your focus from what you didn’t accomplish that day to what you DID accomplish. Our accomplishments often don’t align with our to-do lists as SAHMs, but that doesn’t mean our efforts and intentions are any less valuable or worthy of pride and positive vibes. Are you basing your joy and measuring whether or not you had a good day by how many things you were able to check off “the list” that day? Trust me girl; I’ve been there. In fact, I share a story that happened recently around this very topic. Grab a cozy beverage and join me! The Challenge of Motherhood with Multiple Littles

5/23/2022
In this episode, I want to address a specific question from a sweet mama listener who is going through the same challenges all of us have or will be going through…life with multiple littles. The heaviness of life as a SAHM with two littles and the challenges this brings is something I know all too well. As many of you know, this was my rock-bottom moment. This was when I was forced to make little changes that had a big impact. What do we do to get through this tumultuous time? What steps can we take to get off this island of desolate isolation? How do we thrive in this time when we feel like we’re merely surviving? I hope this episode helps another mama get back on her feet, understand her worth, and know her feelings are heard. ------------ Check the brand-new blog: www.mominprocess.com/blog Join the Mom: In-Process Community: Facebook InstagramWebsite Don’t forget to check out the latest swag! Shine a Light on Neurofibromatosis with Christa Castanon

5/19/2022
May is NF Awareness Month, and in doing my part to “Shine a Light on NF,” I want to bring you a conversation I shared on the podcast this time last year with my sweet friend Christa Castanon. Christa and I both have children with Neurofibromatosis Type 1 or NF1. In this episode, we chat about: This episode is not just for mamas with children of NF. It’s an episode for ALL mamas because even if you don’t have a special-needs child, chances are good you know someone who does. As I am re-releasing this episode, Christa and her daughter Cataleya (Cat) are going through a very challenging, scary, and unknown time. Cat’s midbrain tumor has grown, and she recently went through a brain biopsy procedure. Their family needs all of our support and consideration at this time. I only ask that you help by educating yourself for a few moments on this rare disease. Stop Focusing on Who You Aren’t and Invest in Who You Are

5/16/2022
I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of trying to do and be all the things all the time. Does anyone else constantly feel pulled to be doing more? We need to stop trying new things for the sake of adding it to our own identity. Let curiosity and pleasure be your guide, not envy and higher expectations. In this episode, I talk about what it means to invest in yourself, the problems that arise when we don’t as SAHMs, and the four ways I stay on track to investing in my OWN life. Grab a cozy beverage, and start your week off with a little mindset conversation and an opportunity for self-reflection. ------------ Check the brand-new blog: www.mominprocess.com/blog Join the Mom: In-Process Community: Facebook InstagramWebsite Don’t forget to check out the latest swag! Julie Bogart on “Raising Critical Thinkers”

5/12/2022
Ladies, I have the honor and the privilege of introducing you to an absolutely phenomenal woman. Julie Bogart is incredibly well-known for her “common sense parenting and education advice” in the homeschool community. I started my journey in getting to know Julie when I read her book, “Brave Learner” a few years ago. I was ecstatic to learn about Julie's most recent book, “Raising Critical Thinkers” and couldn’t wait to have her on the show. The important concepts and research presented are beneficial for not only home educators but ALL parents. Julie and I talk about what it means to be a critical thinker, how to apply this in everyday situations, and the importance of this application now more than ever. Julie and I don’t shy away from the tough conversations or real talk such as religion and personal household values. Why Motherhood is a Vocation

5/9/2022
In light of Mother’s Day being yesterday, let’s chat about what motherhood means. I want to address what you are saying, “yes” to. Motherhood is saying yes to the challenge of becoming a mother, parenting a child, and taking on the responsibility of raising the future generation. This is a challenge we are taking on almost entirely ourselves when we become the full-time SAHM. What does it mean to consider motherhood as a vocation? Why is it important to remember this portion of our identity falls under this role? This short and sweet episode will leave you confident, empowered, and ready to tackle the week. ------------ Join the Mom: In-Process Community: Facebook InstagramWebsite Don’t forget to check out the latest swag! “The Good Enough Mom” with Christy Thomas

5/5/2022
Ladies! I’m honored and elated to introduce you to fellow SAHM and podcaster, Christy Thomas. Christy is the host and founder of the podcast “Keep Calm, Mother On.” She started the podcast in 2018 as a way to share encouragement and easy-to-implement ideas for moms with kids ages 5 to 15. Christy is a military spouse, mom of 3, homeschooler, and teacher by trade who found her passion in supporting other women in their journey through motherhood. As a family who has moved 11 times, she is an advocate for building community through small brave acts. We had an insightful and inspirational conversation about the importance of building community and tips on how to do so. Christy shares her insight on how to find joy and moments of pause in the midst of motherhood, the importance of play in not only our children’s lives but also our own, and her theory on choosing people over productivity. Yes, at times, the dishes can absolutely wait. Christy shares her thoughts on the “hot-mess mom” culture and what balancing grace in motherhood looks like. I hope you find calm, inspiration, and grace in this episode. It’s Okay to Need a Man

5/2/2022
As little girls, we want to be rescued. We want to be the damsel in distress, the princess twirling in her pretty dress. Who do we picture rescuing us? The strong, confident, capable, masculine man! Modern (extreme) feminism has come along to say we no longer need a man. They tell us, we are 100% equal and that “anything they can do, I can do better.” The honest truth is, we can’t. Now, don’t get me wrong. I absolutely 1,000% consider myself a feminist! I believe in equal opportunity and freedom of choice. I take so much pride in being able to CHOOSE my role as a SAHM. However, I also find pride in having found a partner who helps support me in this role which we’ve chosen is best for our family. He makes my life better, easier in some ways, and more joyful. My goal for this episode is to debunk the idea that needing a man is weak. I want to show the perspective of a strong woman who is proud to rely on a strong man. There is so much value in a relationship where each partner can lean into their masculine and feminine roles. As a society, these partnerships need to be celebrated, not shunned. Men enrich our lives, provide support in different ways, and, let’s be honest…help us open that pickle jar when we can’t quite get it ourselves. How To Stop Unloading On Your Spouse When He Gets Home

There is no shame here because I was that person!!! It started to create some real problems for us. I call this act of “dumping” your day on your spouse, the Daily Dish. Everyday Mom Guest: Kayla Zenner

4/21/2022
From math teacher to SAHM who found her joy through pursuing her interests. My chat with this month’s everyday mom guest, Kayla Zenner, is packed full of mom-isms, discussions around SAHM life, the trials and tribulations we all go through in this role, and the importance of finding those moments of true self-care. Kayla found little ways to find joy for herself and share that joy with others through playdough kits, baking, mid-sized fashion tips, and makeup tutorials to help moms feel their very best. It wouldn’t be a true mom chat if we didn’t talk about the tough and challenging moments we all go through at different times. How to Live SLIGHTLY Greener with Environmental Toxins Expert Tonya Harris

4/14/2022
The awareness of the toxins in our food, cleaning products, clothes, household items, and beauty products is growing, and let me first say thank goodness to the experts who are bringing these conversations to the table. But, if you’re a busy mom like me, we take all of this information and immediately get overwhelmed with not knowing where to start. I tend to take information like this, combine it with my mama bear love and protective instincts for my family, and go into overhaul mode, throwing everything out in sheer panic, which exhausts me and causes burnout. Fear-driven action at its finest! Does anyone else do the same? Well, I’m here to tell you, there IS hope and a MUCH better way. Drum roll, please! I bring you, Tonya Harris! Tonya is an award-winning environmental toxin expert and founder of Slightly Greener. She “offers busy women simple tips to reduce toxins without turning their family’s lifestyle upside-down.” Sign me up for THAT! Tonya has been featured in multiple online and print publications such as Parents, Reader’s Digest, MindBodyGreen, Insider, and Martha Stewart Living. Most recently, she was featured in Better Homes and Gardens Magazine with a beautiful article titled, “The Nose Knows.” She has also appeared on TV shows across the country, such as Great Day Washington, CBS New York, CBS Los Angeles, and The Dr. Oz Show, for her expertise in environmental toxins, holistic nutrition, and how toxins affect children. Tonya’s book, The Slightly Greener Method: Detoxifying Your Home is Faster, Easier, & Less Expensive Than You Think, is a must-have resource for mamas who want to clean up their environment without the stress, fear, frustration, and overwhelm that comes from an often seemingly daunting task. Tonya and I had a beautiful conversation discussing how she came to develop this method, where she gained her knowledge, and ways she has approached living greener incorrectly in the past. She gives us starting points, debunks my incorrect theories, and helps us take the first step forward in the right direction without fear. You’ll want to grab a pen and paper for this one, ladies. For more information and an incredible resource to have on hand, I highly recommend Tonya’s book, which can be found anywhere books are sold. What is the Mission of the SAHM?

4/11/2022
There is an abundance of scenarios as to how women become SAHMs. In this episode, I want to talk about 2 of those scenarios.
