One small step for man, one giant leap...into a good old-fashioned podcast throw-down between our intrepid hosts. In the midst of their review of First Man, things may have gotten a little heated. Oh, and Jon experienced some technical difficulties, so there's a nearly unbearable clicking on his track after about 20 minutes. Soooooo...um...Enjoy?
WE ARE VENOM! No, not really...Mostly, we're underwhelmed. Jon and Ryan break down Tom Hardy's performance and share their thoughts on the movie-that-could've-been-but-wasn't. Did the absence of your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man hurt the film? Were there any super-nerdy easter eggs that only a true believer would recognize? How many whiskeys did Jon drink while watching it? The guys answer all these questions and more in this unusually short episode. Note from Jon: If you're wondering...
After weeks of anticipation, we finally did it. We reviewed the second season of the critically-acclaimed* Netflix original series from Marvel, Iron Fist. Was it better than the spectacular** first season? Listen in as Jon & Ryan share their full and unapologetic thoughts. But first you have to get through a little "almond talk," because of course. Thanks for listening, Colleen! *I'm sure at least ONE critic liked the first season. Maybe the showrunner's mom has a blog? **Spectacular in this...
I know you're confused. We are too. No, this is not Goosebumps 2. This is a different movie. This one has Jack Black. That one doesn't, but the first one did. This one has a weird title that if you remove one very specific letter, it becomes an adult film. I probably would've preferred to watch that version. But Ryan liked it (because he was Michael Jackson'd), and we argued. It's what we do. Happy Fall, D1s!
Ryan is going to HATE the end of this episode...but that is what you get when you pass off your editing duties onto your self-possessed (and self-preserving) cohost. Join us as we review the newest edition to the Predator franchise. Does it successfully take the baton from Arnold and run with it? You'll have to tune to find out! (Spoiler: It doesn't. It takes the baton, then farts, then falls down. And then falls down again. Then farts. Repeatedly. Listen anyway.)
Settle in for our review of the latest and perhaps most anticipated entry in the Conjuring universe...The Nun! But before the guys get to their thoughts on the movie, Jon regales us with a story about a concert and his fading health and vitality. He may be old, but at least he's not like all those other old guys. 5:00 - Jon Goes to a Concert 21:00 - Spoiler-Free Review of The Nun 42:00 - SPOILERS!
This week, you get not one BUT TWO reviews! Ryan just had to rock the boat and Jon didn't plan well, so you get to hear our spoiler-free thoughts on Searching and Kin. But before all that, Jon describes the surreal experience of watching a live professional wrestling even...after a college football game? This was Jon's first full episode to edit, so if it sucks, Blame Ryan for being a bad teacher.
