Disturbing Behavior

10/25/2023
The Mikes are travelling back to the 90's once again to bring you this oh-so-90's horror film "Disturbing Behavior." Field thinks Butler just can't appreciate good trash in this mess of a horror film with a troubled production. Starring James Marsden, Katie Holmes, and Nick Stahl, this film was written and directed by veteran "X-Files" crew; a fact that's about the only thing Butler likes about this film...oh, that and that scene where "Flagpole Sitta" plays, love that song. Conspiracy Theory

4/26/2023
The Mikes are ending Forgotten Cinema?! It's a conspiracy I tell you! See what I did there? Mike Field and Mike Butler take a look at one last film for Forgotten Cinema and they're going out with a bang! Taking a look at a film starring America's darling, Mel Gibson. Just kidding! I mean Julia Roberts! There, that's better. The Mikes discuss the 1997 Richard Donner film, Conspiracy Theory, also starring Patrick Stewart in a villain role. They'll mostly talk about the utter lack of conspiracy in this film and the amount of pure happenstance and convenience that is needed to keep the plot going. When that fails, the characters simply explain to you an entire subplot at the end of the film that they have never brought up before; but apparently has been the driving force of the entire film. So, for one last time, grab your popcorn and soda, please notice the exits to the left and right of you and settle down for Forgotten Cinema. 00:00 - Introduction 02:30 - Film Summary 03:13 - Film Facts 07:41 - Film Discussion 37:59 - Critic Reviews 44:56 - Why Is It Forgotten? 51:08 - Where to Find Us

Lockout

4/19/2023
It's the penultimate episode of Forgotten Cinema and the Mikes are going to prison... SPACE PRISON! Join Mike Butler and Mike Field as they discuss the 2012 Luc Besson produced sci-fi action film Lockout, starring Guy Pearce. The Mikes talk about how they love Pierce's ripped from the 90's action hero, Snow, but regret that he wasn't placed in a better more (literally) grounded film. Butler loves the nostalgic feeling this movie has in it's feeling like a movie from a decade or two prior, but cannot and does not defend it from Field pointing out the poor story, shoddy CGI, and annoying secondary villain. So, grab your popcorn and soda, please notice the exits to the left and right of you and settle down for Forgotten Cinema. 00:00 - Introduction 01:39 - Film Summary 02:19 - Film Facts 06:49 - Film Discussion 37:13 - Critic Reviews 37:44 - Who Are You Recommending This To? 42:18 - Why Is It Forgotten? 43:07 - Where to Find Us

Malice

4/12/2023
What do you get, when you combine a medical malpractice drama, a husband/wife thriller, and a serial rapist murder mystery film? You get Malice! One of writer Aaron Sorkin's most bizarrely plotted films, but holy crap, does it have some great dialogue. Listen in as Mike Field and Mike Butler discuss this film starring Alec Baldwin, Bill Pullman, and Nicole Kidman. Both Mikes agree that Baldwin's role as a cocky surgeon is his most Alec Baldwin role, and he gets to deliver one of the greatest monologues in 90's cinema in this film. The Mikes, however, don't understand why the plot is so convoluted. The serial rapist murder plot is a subplot that serves absolutely no purpose in this film, and the main con that drives the second half the film is so contrived and silly that the only thing that saves this film is the good acting and great dialogue. But those two things alone make this a film worth going back to. So, grab your popcorn and soda, please notice the exits to the left and right of you and settle down for Forgotten Cinema. 00:00 - Introduction 02:17 - Film Summary 03:08 - Film Facts 08:19 - Film Discussion 29:39 - Critic Reviews 42:03 - Who Are You Recommending This To? 48:10 - Where to Find Us
