Chain Reaction

9/4/2024
Whoa. The Mikes are joining forces with Keanu Reeves, Morgan Freeman, and Rachel Weisz to tackle the energy crisis only to be hunted down by the US government trying to suppress it...typical. Listen in as Mike Butler and Mike Field discuss the 1996 film Chain Reaction. Both Field and Butler enjoyed this film back in the day, but do they now? From a troubled production with no script and a story-line that isn't what Reeves signed up for, this film had a lot of behind the scenes issues that are clearly up on the screen. Should you go back and watch it, or does Chain Reaction belong stuck in the 90's? So, grab your popcorn and soda, please notice the exits to the left and right of you and settle down for Forgotten Cinema. Delirious

8/28/2024
The Mikes are writing their way into a soap opera with the help of John Candy and a magic typewriter as they take a look at the 1991 film Delirious. Join Mike Butler and Mike Field as they discuss a comedy that has some funny moments, but doesn't really work. Especially when you don't clearly establish the rules in the fantasy world that they create here. Nevertheless, Field believes that this film has good bones and could be remade with the right talent behind it. Source Code

8/21/2024
The Mikes are going back in time 8 minutes to help Jake Gyllenhaal stop a bomb from going off in Chicago. That's right Mike Field and Mike Butler are talking the 2011 Duncan Jones film, Source Code, also starring Vera Farmiga, Michelle Monaghan, and Jeffery Wright. Does the high concept sci-fi in this film jive with Field, or does it leave him quantum entangled in confusion and a preference for a more Scott Bakula-style leaping? After the Sunset

8/7/2024
The Mikes are heading down to Nassau, Bahamas to hang out with Woody Harrelson, steal a diamond, watch some sunsets and also watch Pierce Brosnan and Selma Hayek make out...a lot. That's right, Mike Butler and Mike Field are talking about After the Sunset! This big nothing burger (Field's words) was directed by Bret Ratner and basically plays out like an add for Atlantis Resort. While Butler enjoys the "lighter fare" that the film serves up, Field is having none of it. Some people just can't be satisfied, am I right? Like Brosnan's thief in this heist film! Striking Distance

7/17/2024
The Mikes are moving to Pittsburgh and becoming a couple of "waterdog" cops, laying down the law and drinking too much? Investigating a cop serial killer? Sleeping with our partners? Being investigated by them? Indicting our cousin who is also our ex-partner? Having our dad get shot by our Uncle police officer, because our ex-partner cousin cop was the serial killer, but our best friend/cousin/cop seems more like the suspect? And at the same time a major drug operation via boat is happening under our noses that we're barely going to spend more than 5 minutes on?!?!?! If you're confused then Mike Field and Mike Butler must be watching Striking Distance starring Bruce Willis, Sarah Jessica Parker, and a ton of other actors who deserved better. Listen in as the Mikes discuss how Willis contributed to the story becoming more and more ridiculous and directionless as production went on. They'll also talk about what doesn't work (almost everything) despite them remembering liking this film in the 90's. Despite all that, the film might actually have some decent bones on it.
