Yann Demange

Yann directs Matthew McConaughey's new movie White Boy Rick, which tells the true story of a teenager who became an undercover informant for the FBI before being arrested for drug-trafficking during the 1980s. Yann and I talk about the film, how he found its young star Richie Merritt, and what it was like working with McConaughey. The director and I also talked about his first feature '71 which is a Troubles set drama about a young British soldier who has to survive the night in Belfast after being accidentally abandoned by his unit. Yann told me about working with the Irish cast, who included Barry Keoghan, and about similar themes between White Boy Rick and '71.
