Welcome to a Pastrami Nation Special- this is our first Tech Off as we dive into the growing battle of A.I. art. Join Pastrami Nation Editor Nolan Smith with artist/art teacher Christian Nacorda and Engineer John O' Connor as well begin the conversation on the controversial A.I. Art!

Growing up, one of my favorite G.I. Joe figures was Dusty. Being from the desert, I loved his gear and color scheme- it set him apart from the other characters. With this exclusive figure, we get a new desert-themed soldier thanks to Valaverse- Action Force's Desert Rat. Big shout out to Valaverse for the review opportunity! If you aren't familiar with Valaverse, you are missing out. Their 1/12 scale Action Force line gives us a cast of characters that would fit right into the G.I. Joe universe. The figure comes in red, white, and blue packaging, similar to the previous Sgt Slammer exclusive, and comes with quite a bit, including a vest, backpack, interchangeable hands, two guns, and a display stand. The figure boasts a very detailed and original head sculpt and a fantastic vest with a Union Jack insignia. The details on this figure are outstanding- from the gun holsters to the details in the pants and the tremendous desert color scheme; this is a terrific figure. With the vest and backpack, the articulation isn't hindered at all, which allows for tons of posing opportunities. I like the look and feel of the Action Force line- they feel like upgraded, deluxe versions of G.I. Joe's. Desert Rat is leading the pack for me regarding the Action Force line. This is a fantastic figure and one that would fit into any 1/12 collection. I can't wait to see what the next waves for Action Force will include- perhaps some more villains? It's considered a classic in the world of cinema- 2001: A Space Odyssey. The 1968 film by the legendary Stanley Kubrick has become a cult classic and is still celebrated today, some 54 years after its release. Thanks to Super7, the classic lives on in a 7-inch Ultimates! lineup- today, I am looking at one of the astronauts- Dr. Heywood Floyd. The packaging is different for Super7- It's not your usual Ultimates line of packaging. The boxes are narrow, with a small slipcase band over each to denote which character it is. The interior box art is glorious, as it perfectly matches the film's aesthetic and makes a solid case for not even opening the figures and displaying them mint in the box. Yet, action figures are meant to be opened, in my opinion, so let's talk about Dr. Floyd out of the box. The figure comes with a total of 3 pairs of hands, a sandwich, two heads, and a helmet. The figures sculpt is fantastic, with an incredible amount of detail on the suit. I am always impressed with Super7 and its sculpting; this figure is no different. One significant difference from other Super7 Ultimates has to be the articulation, as I feel that Dr. Floyd has a limited amount of articulation. I can see the suit's design hindering some motion, so it could just be the trade-off for design versus articulation. Check out the photos for this review, and you will see what I mean. Articulation aside, Dr. Floyd is a welcome addition to my collection. I absolutely love the figure's design and the fantastic graphic elements of the package. 2001: A Space Odyssey made its mark on the world 50 years ago, and Super7 does its part to keep the legacy alive and well celebrated.
