Senior employee space case Stew, new hire and lifelong nerd Dash Starkiller, and the sensitive part timer Rose are all looking for the store's cat, which is missing on the most important day of the year, the day a minor celebrity comes to Empire Records and boosts their sales. That celebrity is Denise Leary, a formerly famous singer songwriter who got caught up in a plagiarism scandal years ago.
