Cheer up, Sleepy Jean.

While Finey explores the culinary delights of Singapore, it's an old school three ring circus and there is no shortage of clowns, that's for sure. There are no safety nets used here. Roll on up under the Big Top (one of Stephen's recently laundered golf polos). Ken performs stunts, both cunning and not so. For Kev, it's the Tightrope and other Leon Russell songs. The grand finale is Stephen 'Danger is my middle name' Peak * and his amazing death defying fire eating and sword swallowing act. That is something to behold -especially as he washes it down with a seven course banquet from Fongs of Brighton - and in the show stopping finale finale with the wave of a sauce smeared chopstick, SJ peak becomes the elephant in the room. Ta Da! And to think the tattooed man missed all this. Musically, it is the purity of rediscovering a 4IP Top 40 chart from February 1968. No bells or whistles required. (*the J is Just for show) Kevin Hillier, Mark Fine (on Singapore assignment), Stephen J Peak, Ken Francis Post-production by Steve Visscher | Southern Skies Media for Howdy Partners Media | www.howdypartnersmedia.com.au/podcasts © 2026 See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It's Showtime. Get ready for a powerful pontification of the people's position pertaining to the pleasure provided when the participants perform their professional pursuits in pastures whose proximity precludes the provision of the populace. Gather round because unlike Adelaide in April, the heat is on, the seats are undercover and nothing floats in its own pea, or at least we hope not. Musically, we keep it simple - Simon and Garfunkel. And now here'sssssssssssssssssssssss Don or Kev! The world is prepared for the moon landing, petrol rationing, fluctuations in the share market and global political upheaval, but is anyone ready for Stephen J Peak and his juiced up laptop? His drive is hard, his discs no longer floppy and his storage has increased, but calling himself ‘The Gigabyte King’ might be a stretch. Ken ‘The Gig Pig’ Francis has been gadabouting across the CBD (ie: Chelsea, Brighton and Dingley) to see everyone from Jo Jo Zep to Brian Nankervis and The Moon Man. Life imitating Artemis? Finey is firing after an incredibly busy week at Lenny’s Fine Foods. He’s pumped full of vegetable lasagna and intelligent opinions. A first for this podcast. Kev’s in his musical element with a Top 40 Chart from 3XY dated April 18th, 1975. OMG it is OLD but GOD IT'S BAD - not ICK like, ACE like. You DIG? It's like sitting around a campfire, toasting marshmallows and singing Kumbaya! Said no-one ever about this podcast. With Finey toiling away in the Lenny's Fine Food kitchen, the gleesome threesome roll on regardless and clueless. Stephen J (The Pompitous of Love) makes some bold football predictions that verge on comedic genius or madness. A team of AI monkeys is currently discussing possible surgical options. Ken shares his thoughts on Kylie being announced as the AFL's Grand Final entertainment plus the real story of where and when Locomotion became her entree to international pop stardom. Kev's as happy as Larry, Curly and Moe with the musical selection as this week it is The Hollies. Kevin Hillier, Stephen J Peak, Ken Francis. Disney had Fantasyland. The Ruck 'n Roll equivalent is Peakville, a land of endless buffets, unlimited litigation, pointless conversations and tuneless music. With that in mind, we forge on regardless to discuss a wide and varied array of human connection points like football, cricket and death, as well as some lighter subjects like death, cricket and football. Did someone say footy tripping? Did one, or even two panellists tip the card? Why are Finey and Kev smiling? Musically, it is a murky trek back to April 1st 1983 and the iconic 3XY Top 40 of the day and the sea was angry that day, my friend, no April foolin'. Kilimanjaro was rising, cannibals were being eaten and Terry from Minder was belting out bad guys and the odd show tune. Get your dancing shoes on and party like it's 1999 or the Summer of '69 or even December '63. Hit the play button and away we go.......... We All Shine On.

3/16/2026
We are only two rounds into the AFL season, but the tension is palpable, the emotions are stirring, the loins are being girded and the goats are being scaped. Footy tipping really is serious business, isn't it? In unrelated news, the Patron Saint of Losing Thoroughbreds Stephen J Peak has had a life changing experience, so too our resident social butterfly Ken Francis, who has been gigging in Frankston and lived to tell the tale. Musically, our fab four dissect John Lennon's non Beatles music and it is a rollercoaster from Cold Turkey to Beautiful Boy with a dash of Instant Karma and Oh Yoko thrown in. It's an episode so chunky you could carve it. Have You Heard The News?

3/9/2026
Finey had a better offer, so it is the gleesome threesome discussing the events of the week. And what a week, with footy, Formula One and cricket providing plenty to slice and dice. Despite that, SJP gets in a tizz over an AFL player's jewellery and players not wearing gloves. No-one said it had to make sense and it rarely does. Musically, it is a trip back to January 1966 for the 3UZ Official Top 40 with The Carnival is Over by the Seekers in the Number One spot. What a treasure trove of memories. Will it be Good News Week? Lies? Or Que Sera Sera? Maybe The Sounds of Silence would be more appropriate! For those about to Ruck, we salute you ... After a summer of twirling our seventies cricketing moustaches and enthusiastically rubbing a red ball in our groin area, it's time to get real. Time to get our rucks in a row, our behinds in gear and our floggers in hand. ..Footy is Back, Baby! Armed with a mouthful of words, a fistful of opinions and a head full of you know what, the Ruck 'n Roll team will leave no turn unstoned to bring you a totally unique perspective on the 2026 football season. That's a cast iron promise from our iron carrying cast. This week we also talk the music of Wings. Bake a cake, buy a present and call the firies as Stephen J and Kev celebrate yet another birthday. By the way Peaky - that wish will never come true. Ruck ON!!! Yes, Mr. Peters

2/23/2026
Some very painful school memories kick off this episode, with the sting of the cane, the strap and the long wooden ruler echoing in the stories from four very naughty boys. But wait, there's more where that came from as discussion turns to the big news of the week: the Bardot reunion. On a more serious note, sports of all persuasions get the once over, including footy, T20 World Cup, the Moto GP, EPL and the Polish darts. On a musical note, as we use that term dangerously in this case, the chart for discussion comes from 4GR Toowoomba, February 1970. Stand by for a shocking revelation that may irreparably damage the very shaky musical credibility of one of the Ruck 'n' Roll team. We use the term team very dangerously there as well. Ruck ON! Where the Clear Wind Blows.

2/16/2026
If a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, then one member of the R 'n R ensemble is a weapon of mass destruction and he proves it beyond reasonable doubt when talk turns to the AFL State of Origin clash. It's self destruction at the T20 World Cup as the Aussies do a Bradbury - something they don't need at the Winter Olympics, where gold is easier to find than condoms. Speaking of that, romance is in the air as the R 'n R Love God reflects on his Valentine's Day activites. Musically, we take a deep dive into the music of Joe Cocker. Where does he rate? What are his best and worst songs? It's Trouble with a capital T and yes, it does include the 1982 Lindsay Buckingham hit, but that's not all folks. Also on the menu is a Superbowl serving of Bad Bunny, a feast of T20 World Cup action, a slice or two of the AFL's financial pie and the Chef's Surprise is a little something from the Milano Cortina Games that might be hard to swallow. Musically, we visit February 1982 and the new romantics are making an impression. If the expression 'Worming his way into your affections' was to be used in relation to any member of the R 'n R team, who would you think it would apply to? Find out in this illuminating, eventful and (as always) classy episode. Noah had enough trouble with two tablets. We have a panellist juggling sixteen a day! Who do you think that might be? Did someone say hypochondriac? Let's just say it is more Dachshundsen than Munchausen Syndrome. Wink Wnk! The boys let fly on the state of the AFL's State of Origin concept and musically - one of the great Aussie pub bands Hoodoo Gurus step into the spotlight. Alert the press, man the life boats and ladies and gentlemen, please make sure your seat backs and tray tables are in their full upright position and all carry-on luggage is stowed underneath the seat in front of you or in the overhead bins. No bells, whistles, marching bands or fireworks are needed to herald the return of the fab four for a new year of chaos, chatter, blather and whack. Bring on the tennis, cricket, Olympics and a World Cup or two, not to mention footy of all codes. Whether based on fact or fiction, this quartet of talking heads, of various shapes, sizes and attractiveness, will pontificate, adjudicate and facillitate their views and opinions but never regurgitate, lacerate or educate. Forgive us our trespasses and lead us not into temptation or any form of plagarism. Whoops! Anyone know a good lawyer? As 2025 winds down, our fab four find plenty to get wound up about, including our favourite summer pastimes - cricket and eating sweets. The Poms might have served up another load of tripe but the RnR dessert trolley is laden with everything from fairy bread to Bombe Alaska. Thankfully, a distinct lack of unprovoked animal attacks for any of the panel this week. There is some F1 chat, cricket commentary analysis, golf talk and more. On the First Day of Christmas we give to you Two Pigeons and One Goose.

12/1/2025
The Kangaroos may have slayed the AFLW Lions, cricketers with pink balls are poised to stampede the Gabba but the Ruck 'n Roll headline this week is the home invasion you won't read about in the papers or hear about on the nightly news. We have the EXCLUSIVE inside story with graphic details of the invaders' entry via the bathroom window, ransacking of rooms and a full-on confrontation with the victim before fleeing via a front window. This is the harrowing tale of Stephen (not his full name) a suburban septuagenarian set upon by a gang (for dramatic purposes two is a gang) of ... pigeons! And you thought the dachshund story was hilarious. Wait 'til you hear this one. But wait, there is more - including some sensible sports talk. Life is a Minestrone

11/24/2025
As the name of the show suggests, football is always in our thoughts and the AFL Draft and AFLW Grand Final are up for discussion, dissection and derision, as is Perth's two day hit anf giggle fest, or - as they called it - the First Ashes Test. Sprinkle in some EPL, F1 and golf then get ready for the main attraction. Our musical analysis is resting like a good eye fillet or a opening batsman with a dodgy back. Our attention turns to the second part of the RnR culinary expedition. The snacks have been cleared and it is time for the entrée. Let us start by affirming our stance on what an entrée actually is. Entrée in modern French table service - and for much of the English-speaking world - is a dish served before the main course of a meal. There are two other definitions that may be handy as you digest this epiosde. Dégustation is the careful, appreciative tasting of various food, focusing on the gustatory system, the senses and high culinary art. Disgusting is repulsive, revolting, offensive, repugnant, nauseating, abominable, and loathsome. Bon appétit: Enjoy the show!! All in the Name of Liberty.

11/17/2025
Google Maps tried, NASA satellites gave it a shot, sniffer dogs had no hope. This episode travels down rabbit holes, along bumpy, pothole-filled roads and sails unchartered and unfriendly waters before disembarking to a sweet and savoury sideshow of snacks. So just your average show really! From reviewing AC/DC live at the G to the latest on the dachshund saga, there's Monster Trucks, Tetris champions, Don Lane's son and darts. What more could you ask for? Sorry, no flower arranging or tips on stamp collecting. Maybe next time. The Pompatus of Love

11/10/2025
Marlin Perkins, Robert Irwin and Tarzan would cower if they tackled the wilds of our intrepid Ruck 'n Roll explorers. Finey returns from his fishing expedition in the Territory with tails and tales - fishy and true. Ken braved the Collingwood natives to catch his current favourite band Hot Machine in action. Stephen J Peak laughed in the face of potential dachshund retribution though he did it slowly as his knees are as wonky as his racing tips. Kev has landed the musical Delorean on May 31st, 1974 and finds the 4WK Top 40 choc full of pop. slop, bop and Suzi Q and a fresh faced flare-wearing young DJ on the front cover. All that and plenty of footy chat and general huff and puff.
