In desperate need of a fresh batch of police officers, the newly appointed Mayor of a crime-plagued metropolis lowers the bar for the recruitment process. This opens the door for any rando to join Commandant Eric Lassard's prestigious Police Academy, not the least of which is Carey Mahoney, who is light-hearted and essentially required to join or face prison time, so he’s doing everything he can to be thrown out. Lieutenant Harris, can't wait to see them quit as he finds them too disgraceful to wear badges. When a riot breaks out, and police are under siege, it is then up to our lot of misfits to see if they have the guts and courage to wear the badge and save the city. On Bad Movie Night, we look at a film critics or audiences have deemed a "bad movie", but we enjoyed. This month, we're discussing the greatest Valentine's Day date movie ever, Basic Instinct! From leg-crossing, to idiot cops, to aggressive sexual positions, to a battle of the hotness between Catherine Tremell and Beth Garner, to the complete lack of interest the film has in DNA evidence: this is one podcast you do NOT want to miss! A former rock star, Johnny Boz, is brutally killed during sex, and the case is assigned to detective Nick Curran (Michael Douglas) of the SFPD. During the investigation, Nick meets Catherine Tramell (Sharon Stone), a crime novelist who was Boz's girlfriend when he died. Catherine proves to be a very clever and manipulative woman, and though Nick is more or less convinced that she murdered Boz, he is unable to find any evidence. Later, when Nilsen, Nick's rival in the police, is killed, Nick suspects of Catherine's involvement in it. He then starts to play a dangerous lust-filled mind game with Catherine to nail her, but as their relationship progresses, the body count rises and contradicting evidences force Nick to start questioning his own suspicions about Catherine's guilt. Say it with us: Evil dies tonight! For this edition of The Hollywood Outsider Presents: Bad Movie Night, Aaron and Amanda dive into the middle entry in the storied Halloween franchise that is somehow the 12th entry in the franchise overall, Halloween Kills. The Halloween night when Michael Myers returned isn't over yet. Minutes after Laurie Strode (Curtis), her daughter Karen (Judy Greer) and granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) left masked monster Michael Myers caged and burning in Laurie's basement, Laurie is rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, believing she finally killed her lifelong tormentor. But when Michael manages to free himself from Laurie's trap, his ritual bloodbath resumes. As Laurie fights her pain and prepares to defend herself against him, she inspires all of Haddonfield to rise up against their unstoppable monster. The Strode women join a group of other survivors of Michael's first rampage who decide to take matters into their own hands, forming a vigilante mob that sets out to hunt Michael down, once and for all.
