Spooky Season is upon us once again my friends. So in our October episode, we are going to discuss the constants in the world of scary movies. The big 3 of horror if you will; Ghost Stories, Slasher movies, and the one that always comes back to life… Zombies (insert audible groan for the bad joke here). In this one, we’re talking movie release delays. We talk about a couple of upcoming pre-strike films that have people talking. The Star Wars saga… there’s a lot going on with that phrase, isn’t there? Well in this podcast episode we’re gonna do what’s never been done before… discuss Star Wars. What’s that you say? Some announcements that we find interesting. We’re also discussing the Indiana Jones films a bit, due to the recent release of the fifth and final film. Then wrap it all up with what we’re watching on the picture box lately. So sit back, relax, and wrap your ears around an all-new episode of Hollywood Hullabaloo!

For us movie nerds, the film director is king/queen. They are the ones who set the tone, look, and vibe of our favorite films. Then you hear buzz about your favorite director being attached to an upcoming project, only to find out someone completely different ends up directing the film. Another situation that happens with directors is they plan on a new developing a script, but years go by and said movie is never made. Directors get fired, they pass away, or they jump ship for something “better”. What I’m driving at here, is that in this podcast episode, we go back and forth on some famous directors and talk about their projects that never came to pass. Pondering the question…What-if!? Time again for the latest movie news on Transmissions from the Forbidden Planet. April ‘23 continues the recent trend of good news/bad news out of Ole Tinsel Town. We talk about the passing of Lance Reddick as John Wick Chapter 4 hits theaters, and what a great career he had. We also talk about our movie hero’s reaching their winter years and how that makes us feel. -insert emotional John Williams score here- So give the episode a listen. Who knows, you might have a hell of a time.

Movies from the ‘40s and ‘50s have this bright and shiny sheen. Dancing, singing, romance, adventure… choreographed swimming(?) But off camera it was a dark and politically divisive time. Sounds familiar huh? Fear of the ‘other’ was rampant. The enforcement of the Hays Code sterilized what movie goers saw on screen. Political and religious influence enforced discrimination and The Hollywood Blacklist was put into affect. In our latest episode we look into this complicated period of filmmaking and discuss some of the modern films that expose the dark areas of the golden age of Hollywood. We also talk about the rise and fall of the Hays Code, and how the MPAA ratings system took its place. Come on along and take a scary stroll down memory lane, and marvel at how history likes to repeat itself.

History is malleable they say. Written by the winners of wars, yadda yadda yadda. Well over the last hundred years, historical knowledge has been influenced by filmmakers. Not necessarily a good thing. Screenwriters and directors like to take liberties with historical facts in order to tell a better story. Those liberties have a tendency to seep into the public conscience. We thought it would be fun in this season finale to shine a light on when historical films and period TV shows get history right, but mostly when they get it wrong. ***********SPOILERS************* In case you give a crap about these movies and TV Shows, here’s a list of the ones we will spoiler in this episode. Here we go again with episode 2 of the Hullabaloo. This time us fellas talk the latest Hollywood news from October ‘22. As well as spoiler free conversations regarding Andor, Interview with a Vampire, The Serpent Queen, Tales of the Jedi, Unsolved Mysteries, and House of Dragons. For any true crime fans out there, we also discuss the Netflix Dahmer mini-series, as well as the accompanying documentary Conversations with a Killer: The Jeffery Dahmer Tapes. Well it’s Halloween again. I guess we should talk about monster movies. In our spooky season episode we’re talking about the Ones who set it off, The Universal Studios Classic Monsters. Frankenstein, Dracula, The Mummy, The Wolfman, and last but not least The Creature from the Black Lagoon. Modern horror films, and frankly America’s obsession with Halloween owes it all to these monsters and to Universal Studios. So follow us up that long winding dirt road that leads to that ominous castle on the top of the mountain. What’s a matter? Chicken!?!

Well that strange and quirky billionaire vigilante is at it again, so I guess that means we are at it again too. When we last left our dynamic duo (Tim & Derrick) they had got us up to date on the complete history of Batman up to about 2021. So volume 3 is all about The Batman (2022). In this episode our caped crusading podcasters let their feelings all hang out in regards to this latest version of the dark knight. So unlike Vols. 1 & 2… Vol. 3 is full of spoilers for The Batman. Made you look! For our season 4 opener we thought it would be interesting to delve into the different types of Dialect as well as discussing various Dialogue styles in filmmaking.
