Hey XRadioXers its another month and time for another episode of your favorite podcast and this one is about a game. Not just any game it's... THE GAME! THE BIG GAME! The Superbowl, right? NO! It's the Mondegreen Game. Its the game where Matt reads lyrics that people think are correct, but aren't, and then Jayce and the special guest try to see who gets the most correct. This episode's special guest is Sluys. He's like the Edge, Cher or Jayce because he only needs one name. Sluys went to NMU with Matt and Jayce, he worked with the both of them at WUPX and he got a much better career after graduation than Matt and Jayce. Did you know that during college Sluys and Matt shared an apartment? And in that apartment there was a legendary piece of furniture called The Worm. Nobody knows who manufactured The Worm' and nobody has ever seen The Worm again after graduation. It is legend. Another fun fact: Matt, Jayce and Sluys have all slept in The Worm, individually and not together. Get your mind out of the gutter people... It’s that time of the year again XRadioX fans. It’s the time of the year you feel bad because you forgot to get your cousin Tom, twice removed a cheese log. Hey Xers!!! It's that time of the year here in the good ol' US of A! It's Homecoming season! Did you go? Did you have a date? Did you fly solo because you had a girlfriend/boyfriend you met at summer camp who resided in Canada? Right... Canada. Are you from Germany and have NO IDEA what we're talking about? Here is your primer. It's a time of parades, football games, Homecoming Courts, getting dressed up, getting pictures taken, fancy dinners, Kings, Queens and of course... Slow Dancing. Matt and Jayce are now both fathers and Jayce even has kids going to the BIG DANCE! They just have a good time discussing things they did and a little bit of what kids are doing now. They talk some music and somehow (as it usually does) devolves into sophmoric humor about erectile dysfunction medication. And just so you know. Yes I went. Yes, my date was on the Homecoming court. James Kochalka SUPERSTAR logged in and recorded a fun interview with us that ranged from Jayce's sons laughing in the car at his song Pony The Penis... to the always fresh Monkey vs. Robot... to Matt asking about his process... to discussing his different albums... to Jayce getting cities in Vermont mixed up... All the way to the end where we hear the story of him and his band accidentally being sent to Marquette University instead of Marquette, MI to play an epic show in spite of an epic snow storm. Who is James Kochalka you may ask? He is... A wildly prolific artist, James Kochalka (kah-chall-ka) has been creating iconic indie comics and bizzarely catchy punk rock since the early 80s. He is a two-time winner of the prestigious eisner award and in 2011 was named the first cartoonist laureate of his home state of vermont. his song “britney’s silver can” was on rolling stone’s Best Songs of 2006, and his song “Hockey Monkey” was the theme to fox sitcom “the loop.” I lifted that from this website here. Coincidentally this episode is releasing the same day as his new album Pop Popular. You can head over to his Bandcamp Page and pick it up along with his entire discography. According to Wikipedia Classic Alternative is a radio format focusing on alternative music from the late 1970s to early 1990s, with particular focus on the early days of MTV. Personally I'm happy I got to make Matt think about Cake's the distance as if it was about sex. I also enjoyed being reminded that a certain sect of music fans have no idea how magnets work. Merry Xmas XRadioXers! Its time for Episode 24: The One Where We Hate On Xmas Matt and I spend an hour giggling and sh!ting on Xmas stuff. Thats it. Thats what we do. We sing a scientifically bad version of the worst Xmas song EVER, Baby It's cold Outside. I truly hate that song. I can't believe people like it. Somehow Dr. Suess is compared to Trent Reznor? Blame Matt for that one. Did Scott Wieland owe his record company an album or was it just a parole thing when he made an Xmas standards album? We talk the Star Wars Xmas Album, the Snoop Dogg Xmas album, and the Xmas clock is back. Its one of my favorite decorations in this house. There are comments about my age equivalency in shoes, I give away some Xmas presents I bought, Matt recites Oi to The World, Matt didn't know who did Mistress For Christmas and we just have a good old fun conversation about kitchy, crappy and hackey Xmas stuff. I even talk a little about my only real rebel moment while working at WSGW in Saginaw. I had fun, Matt had fun and we hope you have fun listening. HEY!!! Get your Country out of my Death Metal! NO! You get your Death Metal out of my Country!!! XRadioXer's it's time for Episode 22: The One Where Song Titles Are Disgusting. To be fair the Country song titles aren't disgusting but we needed a catchy title so cut us a break. In this episode we'll discuss, poke fun at and flat out laugh at some of these song titles. Its just Matt and Jayce riffin and having fun on this one. Be warned though... Some of these Metal song titles we bring up aren't going to be fun to explain to your kids, parents and maybe significant other so consider yourself warned. We also throw some love to our podcast friends and that's about it for this one. This episode is pretty close to what a radio program would be with us if we actually still worked at a college radio station. We hope you enjoy this one!
