How To Make It In Nursing As A Man

Are you a man looking to get into nursing and do not know how to? Do you wish to understand just what it takes to become a nurse in a female-dominated field? If so, then you have come to the right place. This book will usher you into the world of being a male nurse and thriving at it! For a better part of the last decade, nursing has been considered a female domain, with men being looked at as anomalies in the field. The view that men cannot make good nurses has thus led to widespread stereotypes of men who get into the field. Men in nursing are generally often viewed with suspicion, with people even questioning their sexual orientation. However, as you will learn in this book, nursing had originally been a field meant for men. During the old periods up until the 19thcentury, large-scale caregiving was a role that was meant for men. Thus, this already defeats the stereotype that men lack the necessary temperament to get into nursing. Furthermore, men who get into nursing consider it the most fulfilling profession that they could choose and simply want to care for people. So, perhaps you may be wondering… Why is it hard for men to get into nursing? What are some of the challenges male nurses face in the profession? How do female nurses react to and treat their male colleagues? What are male nurses doing to change the negative perception of men in the field? What does the future hold for male nurses? If these and many questions are bothering you, then this is the book that answers them and more, as it covers the ins and outs of becoming a male nurse and how to make the best of it.
