The Lake Radio

Dino Spiluttini presents the first two volumes of his sound recycling project Angelic Airwaves. Beyond the usual confines of the DJ mix, the project focuses on samples as raw material. Using only sampled build-ups from 1990s trance tracks, reworked acapellas, and his own voice as source materials, Spiluttini creates charged ambiences which ripple, billow and saturate. Voices and pads seep delay-soaked from their song and floor contexts into protracted yearnings for joy, strength and connection. Vienna-based Dino Spiluttini approaches contemporary electronic music with pointed emotional dynamics. His work often displays an anxious or brooding yearning for fulfilment and respite from troubled embodiment, frustrated identity, or worldly unease. Since 2019’s Editions Mego release Heaven, which contemplated death, reunion and bodily perfection with choirs, organs, harps and pads, Spiluttini has focussed on a lusher and more tempered approach drawn towards trance euphoria. We’ve asked the Swedish artist Aske Thiberg to contribute some of the sounds from his practice to our archive at The Lake Radio. And graciously he has provided us with a wonderful mix of music from dance performances, videos and readings of three of his short stories. Askes work is digging into themes of loneliness and alienation, anxiety and melancholy, rhythm and weight, in a sometimes playful, sometimes serious manner. We are excited offer a new context for these truly special songs and texts. Vi ofrer de første minutter af programmet til platformsguderne. Vi adlyder kedsomhedens guder. De er stærkere end os. Men vi er klogere og noget mere talstærke. Sammenholdet bygger i høj grad på en uspecifik kærlighed til det brogede musikområde, der er langhåret musik. Såkaldt "hippie-musik". Vi lader os tryllebinde af den langhårede musik, når vi tager første spadestik til et mixbånd med langhåret dansksproget hippie-musik. A journey through textures and materials: from aquatic depths to volcanic rocks, crystalline steam, and enveloping swamps. We dive into different stories, as if entering directly into the very essence of matter. One texture leads to another, and together they form an immersive landscape. Lamina is the moniker of Brussels-based French artist Clarice Calvo-Pinsolle. In Basque mythology, it refers to a half-human, half-animal spirit that dwells in the forest.
