Even after three special sessions, in Texas, there is still no clear legal language that forcibly defends the individual's right against corporations that are attempting to force or intimidate Texans into receiving medical treatment that they do not want. Founded on July 4, 1867 by 150 Black men and 20 Anglos in Houston, Texas, the Republican Party of Texas has a rich history. These early Republicans were intentionally reaching out to the newly-freed and newly-enfranchised freedmen, the former slaves. They were reaching out to ensure that they were also being registered to vote and so the Republicans have always literally, been stalwarts for Black people. That’s a history that’s not being told!

On February 13th, Winter Storm Uri slammed into Texas, impacting all 254 counties and leaving millions of Texans across the state without electricity or water. ERCOT, an agency that very few Texans had ever heard of, was now front and center to the newly-commenced 87th legislature.
