SEPTA cameras will soon generate tickets for drivers parked in bus lanes

Drivers who stop in bus lanes in Philadelphia will soon be ticketed by automatic cameras mounted inside SEPTA buses and trolleys. All police officers in Gloucester County are now carrying Narcan and a tourniquet with them at all times as part of a new program. KYW South Jersey reporter Mike Dougherty tells us it was inspired by the death of Officer Bobby Shisler. Officials in Delaware County are putting a ban on ghost guns and converters for firearms.

The KYW Newsradio All-Local on Monday, April 7, 2025 (midday edition): A man was killed by police in Pottstown after fleeing the scene of a car crash, barricading himself in his home for five hours, and shooting an officer, authorities said. ... Federal cuts have scuttled two big programs the Philadelphia Energy Authority (PEA) was planning in Grays Ferry and Kensington. At a budget hearing last week, PEA’s president told City Council that other programs may have to be scaled back without more city funding. ... The Mazzoni Center, a Philadelphia LGBTQ+ nonprofit, typically holds a large transgender wellness conference every year. This year, it is doing away with the event, opting instead for year-round programming.

The Montgomery county district attorney's office is investigating after they say a man opened fire and shot a police officer following a car crash in Pottstown. Officials say just after five Sunday evening, Pottstown police responded to an accident involving two cars at Beech and North Mount Vernon Streets. Authorities say a man in one of the cars tried to reach for a gun in the car, leading to a struggle with police officers. The man ran away to his home on winding road. Officials say once the suspect got there, he barricaded himself inside, pulled out a gun, and shot at the cops... hitting one of them in the shoulder. That cop is recovering in the hospital. Officials have not identified the suspect. A Philadelphia LGBTQ Non-profit that typically holds a large transgender wellness conference every year, is doing away with event in 2025, instead looking to create year-round programming. KYW's Vik Raghupathi has more: The Philadelphia energy authority has been hit hard by the federal cuts and it's asking City Council to help it continue its work by increasing what Mayor Parker proposed in her budget. Protesters in Philadelphia and the suburbs joined others in cities across the nation yesterday to stage organized rallies against President Trump's and Elon Musk's government cuts and other policies They called the event a Hands Off day of action. Despite the dreary weather this weekend, spring is starting to pop, at least when you look at the trees. That includes Fairmount Park, which has been packed as people soak up the Cherry Blossom Festival. A 23-year-old woman was followed from work in the suburbs all the way into the city and shot in the head. The victim told investigators she was followed on 76 East by a black Nissan after leaving her King of Prussia workplace early Saturday morning. Eight people have been charged in a violent spree of carjackings and shootings in Philadelphia and Montgomery County. State Senator Vincent Hughes and Senator Art Haywood came together in Northwest Philly to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., on the 57th anniversary of his death. One of pro wrestling’s big two companies is coming to Philadelphia tomorrow night (SUN). All Elite Wrestling is bringing their pay-per-view Dynasty event to the Liacouras Center. Local leaders say American business and consumers will suffer the most after President Trump announced his sweeping tariff plan this week. A minimum 10-percent tariff will be levied on all goods imported into the U-S, but dozens of countries that have tariffs on U-S goods will face higher "reciprocal tariffs." Pennsylvania Democratic Congressman Brendan Boyle calls it the single largest tax increase in the nation's history, and says Americans with the lowest incomes will suffer the most. A teenager wanted for shooting and killing another teen on a SEPTA bus in West Philadelphia last month is in police custody -- arrested Thursday afternoon in Montgomery County. Here’s KYW Newsradio's Crime and Justice reporter Kristen Johanson. It was more than a decade in the making, but today PATCO’s Franklin Square station reopened with a mid-day ribbon cutting and a brief charter ride to Camden City Hall and back. Parents of Bucknell University football player file wrongful death suit against school

The death of a freshman football player after a workout last summer for the Bucknell University football team has prompted a wrongful death lawsuit from his parents. The suit filed in Philadelphia court, against the school and administrators, claims the teen's death was preventable. Attorneys announced the lawsuit during a press conference in Center City. A Bucks County man has filed a lawsuit against billionaire Elon Musk, claiming he's owed thousands of dollars for work he did during the 2024 presidential campaign. Philadelphia officials, Wednesday, unveiled a slate of jobs and activities designed to keep the city’s youth busy and, the hope is, safe, this summer. There's new initiative aimed at removing lead from homes in Delaware county.

Real ID procrastinators in Pa can expect long waits at PennDOT

Still no resolution in the effort to keep Crozer-Chester and Taylor Hospitals in Delaware County open. A bankruptcy hearing scheduled for Tuesday has adjourned until Thursday. Philadelphia labor leaders marked the fifth anniversary of the city’s “Fair Work Week” law, and urged the city to continue to act on behalf of workers, in the face of anti-labor actions at the federal level. With the federal enforcement deadline a month away, time is running out for people to get a “REAL ID.” And there are plenty of procrastinators in Pennsylvania, as we hear form KYW’s Mike DeNardo. The 20-year-old Bristol Township woman who falsely accused a random stranger of trying to kidnap and rape her, will spend at least 45-days behind bars. It's officially Autism Awareness Month, and a new program in Camden County helps improve interactions between police and people on the autism spectrum.
