KYW Newsradio's education reporter Mike DeNardo was at tonight’s school board meeting… *** As the deep freeze in the region lingers, roofers in the region are finding "ice dams" on many rooftops and that's a serious problem. KYW Newsradio's John McDevitt spoke to an expert in roof repairs on what can be done to correct the problem. *** As promised, two Philadelphia city council members introduced a package of legislation, at today’s meeting, that would limit Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity in the city. KYW Newsradio's City Hall bureau chief Pat Loeb reports council showed broad support for the measures……………… *** Philly is expecting an influx of visitors this year — and it looks like the Simpsons are among them. Fox has announced next month's milestone 800th episode of the long-running animated sitcom will bring Homer, Marge and company to Philly. Called "Irrational Treasure," it sees the Simpsons come to town for the National Dog Show only to get involved in a historical mystery — with Homer stopping by Pat's and Geno's along the way. Philly natives Quinta Brunson, Kevin Bacon and Questlove guest star — and Boyz II Men will put their own spin on the Simpsons theme song. The episode will air February 15th on Fox.

Philadelphia district attorney Larry Krasner and several of his counterparts across the country say they will help each other go after federal agents whom the prosecutors claim are breaking the law in their counties. As KYW crime and justice reporter Kristen Johanson explains, it’s legal, but difficult. Turning up thermostats is a common thing to do and that most likely means energy bills will be on the rise too. KYW's John McDevitt reports an electricity and natural gas supplier company has tips on how to lower costs. The Philly region is bracing for a massive winter storm this weekend which could bring the most snow we've seen in years. A winter storm warning will go into effect tomorrow night and last into Monday morning. The school district of Philadelphia will be closed Monday while Philadelphia Archdiocesan schools will have a flexible instruction day. For the most up-to-date school closings, visit KYW Newsradio dot com. Officials in the city are asking residents to avoid travel and be prepared for the storm. As KYW's city hall bureau chief reports, the city is making extensive preparations. Philadelphia courts will be closed on Monday because of the storm. The criminal justice center at 13th and Filbert will remain open for emergency protection from abuse petitions, bail and arraignment hearings. Hundreds of PennDOT plow crews are ready to hit the roads this weekend as the snowstorm approaches. KYW’s Mike DeNardo reports… Officials in South Jersey say salt depots are stocked up and they’re ready for whatever might come with this storm. More on this from KYW South Jersey reporter Mike Dougherty. Supermarket aisles are packed with shoppers getting their groceries ahead of the weekend storm.
