As the US ATTACK on Iran continues, local lawmakers are reacting, with many Democrats calling for Congress to vote on limiting the president's powers on more strikes or a potential war. KYW Newsradio's Sunny Morgan talked to an expert who says That might not have much impact. *** Marjam (mary-um) Vafa with the group Philly Iranians says she people she knows in Iran are happy but also frightened... President Trump said Iran's Nuclear program was "obliterated" after the 12-day war in June, but the President now says Iran was rebooting its nuclear operations and called on the Iranian people to rise up and overthrow the current regime. Vafa tells us the current regime has killed tens of thousands, and she says the Iranian people are out of options... Democratic lawmakers have denounced the Trump administration for carrying out the strikes without Congressional approval — with the exception of Senator John Fetterman, who expressed his support for the president following the attacks. Senate and House minority leaders Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries are among those urging Congress to vote on resolutions to limit the president's war powers. Stay with KYW Newsradio for ongoing coverage of the military action in the Middle East. *** Philadelphia Police are searching for three men they say robbed a store employee at knifepoint last week, and got away with over $10-thousand-dollars in cash. This happened on February 22nd just after 4 in the afternoon, when the men entered the Christian Express on North 5th Street near Fisher Avenue in Olney. The men immediately went behind the counter and robbed the employee. The employee told police that two of the three men had been in the store earlier that day wearing different clothing. Investigators also say these men are also connected to another robbery that took place at the same store in late January. Christian Express is money transfer services business. Officials released surveillance footage of the men. The video can be seen on our website, KYWnewsradio-dot-com. Police of course ask that you contact them if you have any information about the crime or the suspects. *** A reference to the HBO crime drama 'The Wire' during a trial for drug offenses has led to New Jersey’s Supreme Court vacating the conviction. More on this from KYW Newsradio's South Jersey reporter Mike Dougherty. *** A motorcyclist was killed yesterday afternoon in the Northeast when a car detached from the back of a tow truck and struck the rider. And now police are on the search for the tow truck driver. They tell NBC10 this happened around 4:15 on Frankford Avenue near Torresdale Avenue. The car was being towed from the Juniata neighborhood when it fell loose from the truck. It rolled into traffic in the opposing lane and crashed into the man on the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead soon after. Police say the driver of the tow truck fled the scene after the collision. Authorities say they were able to figure out the tow truck company involved and their representatives came to the scene. Anyone with information on the driver's whereabouts should contact police.

Five Philadelphia police officers have filed a federal lawsuit claiming the policy to diversify leadership is illegal and discriminatory. As KYWs Crime and Justice reporter Kristen Johanson tells us, the cops say they were passed over for promotions, because they’re white. Pennsylvania’s State Police commissioner was in the hot seat during budget hearings in the State Senate. KYW Suburban Bureau Chief Jim Melwert tells us a significant portion of the hearing focused on funding for security upgrades at the governor’s private residence in Montgomery County after a fire-bombing at the residence in Harrisburg. Half-days are no more in Philadelphia district schools. KYW's Mike DeNardo reports... New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill is continuing her small business tour. Police say a man assaulted a woman and she grabbed a knife and fought back. KYWs Tim Jimenez has the story from the Poplar neighborhood. Modern seating. More handicapped-accessible dining. New flooring that 'pops.' Reading Terminal Market is getting a makeover as crowds prepare to descend on Philadelphia for big events this year. The market's CEO tells the Business Journal the project has been on its wish list for a while. She promises it will 'better serve' those who make Reading Terminal the region's most-visited tourist attraction. More than 6 million people are expected there this year, as the nation's 250th anniversary celebrations ramp up and the city prepares to host the World Cup and MLB All-Star Game.
