MVP109: ”High Conflict” with Amanda Ripley

4/24/2023
Amanda Ripley is a New York Times bestselling author and an investigative journalist for the Atlantic, Politico, the Washington Post and other outlets. Today she joins me to talk about her book, HIGH CONFLICT: Why We Get Trapped & How We Get Out This is a fascinating look at the polarising conflicts of our times - whether it's Left vs Right, race vs race, state vs state, gang vs gang, activism vs establishment or any other conflict rooted in polarity, high conflict destroys relationships, communities and lives. If, like me, you're interested in escaping the "tar pits" of high conflict, you need to check out this interview and the book to go with it. As a side note, this will be the last regular interview episode of the Managing Violence Podcast. It's been a great run. I will be closing out with one more reflective episode, but this is the final interview and I'm happy to end it on this note. Enjoy!

MVP100: The Future of the Self Protection Industry

1/23/2022
I am using this milestone episode of the Managing Violence Podcast to plant a flag. It is time we tear down this makeshift industry we have continued to patch, fix and repair over the past 70 or so years. Like a loved family home that has been renovated and added to in ad hoc fashion as it has been outgrown, sometimes the best option is to take the lessons and rebuild for the future. It's time for us to create something that is truly fit for purpose. In this podcast I talk about what I think is the future of our industry. A move towards violence prevention and management, the incorporation of best-practice risk management principles and formalising professional education for instructors. Whether you agree or disagree, please feel free to share your comments wherever you find this episode or email me at joe@joesaunders.com.au More information on my upcoming UK tour: Managing Violence 2022 UK Tour - Managing Violence Podcast Book tickets: Self Defence Global Join the conversation in the Managing Violence Tribe: Managing Violence Tribe | Facebook Support the show on Patreon: www.patreon.com/managingviolence
