The Ladder for Humanity

This audiobook is narrated by a digital voice. Every civilization measures itself by its power. This book measures ours by its dead. The Ladder for Humanity puts civilization itself on trial. The defense calls its witnesses: the divers who reached thirteen boys under a mountain in Thailand, the villagers of Le Chambon who hid strangers from the camps, the hospital cook who was the last person on Earth to catch smallpox in the wild. The prosecution answers with three charges — war, killing, and the deaths a civilization could prevent and does not. Then the court builds a standard, and holds us to it. The Ladder is a scale of civilizations whose unit is the human life. Its rungs are refusals held for a century: Peace, Life, Love, Kin. It can be climbed. It can be lost. And it hands every reader the court’s own question, small enough to ask of a single choice and large enough to ask of a nation: what does this do to life? A standalone argument and the direct sequel to Don’t Kill Your Brother, it is written for the reader who sits in the jury, not the gallery. The court will ask for your verdict before it gives its own. The sentence is one word: Climb. Duration - 7h 39m. Author - Bek Duishekeev. Narrator - Digital Voice Declan Sage E.
