Ray Archuleta is a Certified Professional Soil Scientist with the Soil Science Society of America and has over 30 years experience as a Soil Conservationist, Water Quality Specialist, and Conservation Agronomist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). During his tenure with the NRCS Ray served in New Mexico, Missouri, Oregon, and North Carolina. Ray received his AS degree in Livestock Science from Northern New Mexico College and a BS degree in Agricultural Biology plus 30 hours of graduate work in soil related courses from New Mexico State University. Sam Thayer was born in Wausau, Wisconsin, where he first learned to gather wild food in vacant lots, backyards, city parks, and at the edge of town. Later, his family moved to rural southern Wisconsin, and then to Madison. Sam's first presentation on edible wild plants was to his seventh grade science class, demonstrating the foods that he collected regularly on his three-mile walk to school. He began "survival camping" at fourteen and led his first wild food walks when he was 19. After graduating from high school, he moved near the south shore of Lake Superior and built a rustic log cabin on an abandoned farmstead, chasing his childhood dream of "living off the land" while working part-time at a variety of jobs. Since 2000, when he won the Hazel Wood National Wild Foods Cooking Contest, Sam has been teaching regularly on edible wild plants, giving workshops across the United States. In 2002 he was inducted into the National Wild Foods Hall of Fame at North Bend State Park in West Virginia. His first book, The Forager's Harvest, has won a Midwest Book Award, IPPY Book Award, and was a finalist for the USA Book News Best Books 2007 award. It has been a steady Amazon category best-seller and has sold more than 100,000 copies. His second book, Nature's Garden, has received similar acclaim and sold over 75,000 copies. David Crowe is a telecommunications consultant, environmentalist, writer and critic of science and medicine. David graduated at the top of his science class from Lakehead University in 1978, with a degree in Biology and Mathematics, but gave up his full graduate scholarship in order to become a computer software developer, and then a recognized wireless communications expert, ironically, without a single university course in that field. David was an environmentalist from childhood, and was a co-founder of the Alberta Green Party in 1992. His love of the natural world, concerns about toxic chemicals and interest in scientific mysteries eventually led to a small group of scientists, journalists and gay men who questioned whether HIV was the cause of AIDS, or whether it was caused by recreational drugs and blood transfusions. When he discovered the work of the Perth Group that argued that HIV had never been purified, and might not exist, he applied the same logic to the West Nile Virus, shortly after the 1999 New York epidemic, and drew the same conclusion. He eventually decided to write a book, to be entitled, “The Infectious Myth”, the same name as his weekly radio show that started in 2014. It will argue that AIDS, SARS, Polio, West Nile, Mad Cow and others are environmental diseases, not infectious. David has created a database of almost 9000 documents on viruses, of which almost 4000 are peer-reviewed papers. From each article he extracts the core information, and tags and stores it. He has made annotated lists of citations publicly available on many topics related to AIDS, and plans to do that with other diseases blamed on viruses. David has published peer-reviewed articles in the fields of numerical taxonomy, computer performance, and the Ebola vaccine, along with letters to top medical journals related to AIDS.
