Host Doug Stephan and Dr. Ken Kronhaus of Lake Cardiology (352-735-1400) cover a number of topics affecting our health. First up, Doug and Dr. Ken begin with foods that may lower the risk of cardiac-events and other heart-related illnesses and problems. They call this the PURE diet.
Moving on, Doug and Dr. Ken address the potential spread of coronavirus in deer, the epidemic of obesity, the link between proper amounts of exercise and quality sleep as it relates to staving off mental decline, and a more in-depth discussion of Alzheimer’s and other Dementia-related diseases and disorders that impact the brain.

Dr. Jack Stockwell, a NUCCA Chiropractor and GAPS Practitioner in SLC, UT (866.867.5070 | ForbiddenDoctor.com | JackStockwell.com), covers the the biggest news in the health and wellness space from a holistic, naturopath perspective. In this episode, Dr. Jack begins with the health dilemma of overmedication from too many prescriptions is causing more harm than healing, why he emphatically advices against receiving the flu vaccine, and how Big Pharma is making more money off us being sick than us being healthy.
Dr. Jack goes on to define the "forbidden doctor" as the most powerful healing force inside your own body. He argues that this internal healing capacity is kept "hidden" by Big Pharma, which profits when individuals rely on chemical, pharmaceutical, and unnatural solutions rather than natural, holistic health.
Key aspects of Dr. Stockwell's "Forbidden Doctor" philosophy include: Additionally, Dr. Jack points out the importance of regular physical activity, how much exercise you should be getting by age, and what kind of exercise is beneficial based on your current health situation.
A big theme in the entire episode of this week’s Good Day Health with Dr. Jack Stockwell has priority in how everything previously mentioned can help to lower your chances of developing Alzheimer’s or other dementia-related brain deterioration.
Lastly, Doug and Dr. Jack join forces to address listener questions, such as the overuse of technology and devices, and more.

The MTHFR Gene Scam

On today’s Good Day Health Show - ON DEMAND…
Jack begins with the scam that is the MTHFR gene scam, a widespread marketing fraud involving MTHFR (methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase) genetic testing. Dr. Jack addresses what it is, why it has gained so much attention in recent years, and whether the concern surrounding it is truly warranted. Drawing on research from the past decade, Dr. Jack breaks down the science behind MTHFR deficiencies, including their connection to conditions like hyperhomocysteinemia and homocystinuria, as well as milder elevations in homocysteine levels.
Rather than fueling fear, Dr. Jack offers a grounded and practical perspective, explaining why routine testing for the MTHFR gene may not be necessary for most people. He emphasizes focusing on overall health and lifestyle choices instead of getting caught up in genetic testing trends, and he shares his recommendations for supporting the body naturally.
The conversation also shifts to a powerful and often overlooked aspect of wellness: the body’s own antioxidant production. Dr. Jack reveals what he considers the most powerful antioxidant your body produces, why it plays such a critical role in protecting your cells, and how you can support your body’s ability to maintain optimal levels.
Packed with clarity, myth-busting insights, and actionable advice, this episode is a great reminder that good health doesn’t have to be complicated, it just needs to be understood.
Lastly, Doug joins Dr. Jack to answer listener questions, like if the weight loss drugs are worth it and the approach to intermittent fasting.

Host Doug Stephan and Dr. Ken Kronhaus of Lake Cardiology (352-735-1400) cover a number of topics affecting our health. First up, Doug and Dr. Ken begin with a focus on pedestrians experiencing a higher likelihood in being hit by an electric vehicle as opposed to gas-powered cars because of distracted driving as well as distracted pedestrians who don’t hear the EV approaching and step into the roadway without looking.
Other discussions include a new study showing the life expectancy going up, questioning if the Avian flu could become the new COVID-19, how social media is influencing young people to take up vaping and smoking, and when allergies are better left to a homeopathic approach and when to reach for the over-the-counter medications or get with an allergist for further testing and a possible need for allergy shots.
The conversation, then, shifts to answering listener questions like Telehealth and virtual visits for doctor’s as opposed to in-person doctor appointments, how a month without alcohol can do for your health, do water filters work in filtering microplastics in drinkable tap-water, and how does fasting work for or against your body. Is Arthritis Really Part of Aging?
3/22/2026
On today’s Good Day Health Show - ON DEMAND…
Jack begins with arthritis, and why some people develop it as an age-related struggle while others are not. This discussion does not refer to the autoimmune forms of arthritis, such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, but more of the umbrella of Osteoarthritis (the “wear-and-tear” form). Dr. Jack says it’s most often diet that causes some to have a higher chance of developing arthritis and arthritic pain to address the degeneration.
Of course, the medical point of view suggests treating arthritis with painkiller drugs and then replacing the joints as necessary, but Dr. Jack brings in the holistic approach to mitigate the problem.
Dr. Jack even dives into animals who have shown symptoms of developing arthritis, mostly pet dogs, and it tends to come back to the wrong diet. This further drives Dr. Jack’s point on the importance of holistic approaches to health and wellness and why nutrition, especially diet, is imperative to your longevity and living your healthiest life.

Is Your Sugar Substitute Making You Fat?
3/17/2026
On today’s Good Day Health Show - ON DEMAND…
Host Doug Stephan and Dr. Ken Kronhaus of Lake Cardiology (352-735-1400) cover a number of topics affecting our health. First up, Doug and Dr. Ken begin with a simple smell test that can possibly help prevent Alzheimer’s by early detection. While sense of smell is important, so are the other senses. This leads to a conversation between Doug and Dr. Ken on how loss of senses can affect the brain, and vice versa. When it comes to hearing, there has been data that shows a loss of the auditory sense can lead to a loss in memory and create a higher likelihood of developing a neurologically-degenerative disorder. When patients find themselves hard of hearing, they’re a lot less likely to seek medical assistance and get hearing aids. This raises the question of “Why,” especially when you consider the fact that if someone has trouble seeing or some kind of vision issues, they seek medical advice from an optometrist without hesitation and start wearing glasses, contacts, or get corrective surgery when applicable.
Continuing on with brain health and the potential for developing Alzheimer’s, Doug poses the question to Dr. Ken on whether or not animals get Alzheimer’s. Dr. Ken states some animals are prone to age-related degenerative diseases, while Alzheimer’s is typically a human issue, though some primates have showed similar neurological results. However, we don’t have to worry about our fur babies getting it, as dogs and cats may age, they won’t develop Alzheimer’s.
In female health news, the FDA has approved the first home-based OTC/non-prescriptive diagnostic test for various sexually transmitted infections in women.
Then, the conversation shifts to a focus on sugar substitutes, and why they may be just as harmful as regular sugar, but for a different reason. Doug and Dr. Ken break it down, and why Sucralose (the primary sweetener in Splenda) could increase your appetite and feelings of hunger.
Going a step further, what happens for children of obese mothers. It’s a focus of a new study that most children who struggle with obesity, typically have an obese mother. It may not always be as simple as what people eat, and mores a genetic makeup and predisposition to obesity. On the other hand, a mother’s poor choices in eating and health habits can have a negative affect on their children, leading them down the same path.
Lastly, Doug and Dr. Ken address listener questions, starting with the Avian Influenza outbreaks and how humans are affected, and potentially infected, especially for those who work on the farm. Plus, Doug uses his own health status to share a relatable story of needing procedures and the out of pocket price for the insurance company, and how much the actual doctor’s receive.

Nutrients and Supplements Are Best When Derived From Nature

Jack begins with the worth of synthetic antioxidants and other nutritional supplements (AKA the “fake stuff”). We know therapeutic foods are best, and which ultra-processed carbohydrates are best to be avoided. We know this. So, why I it still so difficult for many people to follow healthier practices? Dr. Jack continues this topic with an example from a trip abroad and the freshness of his meals and how he felt within days of eating in such a healthy, natural, straight from the earth type of way.
Dr. Jack drives the point by sharing a conversation he had with a patient on what the patient needs to eat to turn his health around. When eating copious amounts of whole foods to better your health isn’t truly feasible, whole-food supplements come in to play. Whole food and phytonutrient supplements are missing in most American diets, and Dr. Jack is sharing how you can adjust your diet and nutritional intake to better your overall health.
Then, Doug and Dr. Jack link up to address listener questions, including health guidelines from MAHA, impact from Bayer/Monsanto on health and the effects of glyphosate. They discuss that, too.

3/10/2026
On today’s Good Day Health Show - ON DEMAND…
Host Doug Stephan and Dr. Ken Kronhaus of Lake Cardiology (352-735-1400) cover a number of topics affecting our health. First up, Doug and Dr. Ken begin with the neurological and cognitive benefits of nostalgia by acting as a psychological resource that boosts mood, reduces stress, and strengthens social connections. It triggers dopamine release, increases self-esteem, and fosters a sense of meaning in life. Neurologically, it activates brain regions involved in self-reflection and autobiographical memory.
Then, Dr. Ken and Doug break down the latest on the latest surge of Avian Flu (H5N1) as it continues to spread in US poultry and dairy cows, with over 20 new commercial outbreaks reported in early March 2026, including massive, multi-million bird operations. While the public health risk remains low, the virus has infected over 70 people in the US since early 2024, mostly with mild illness, but with high surveillance in affected areas.
Next up, the conversation shifts to sugary drinks and the truly scary statistics as it pertains to oral cancer. One would think that the decline of smoking and tobacco use would drive down oral cancer rates. In a recently published study, it was found those who consume at least one sugar-sweetened beverage daily had a greater chance of developing oral cancer as opposed to those who abstain. These are drinks that have previously been linked to colorectal and other gastrointestinal cancers are now linked, sadly, to oral cancers.
In other news, people who use cannabis have a higher risk of heart-health problems than non-users. Those who partake in weed use are more than six times likely to suffer a heart attack, and there is also a dramatic increase in stroke, heart failure and heart-related death.
Moving on, chronic stress is not healthy for anyone, but hone it comes to women, chronic stress is much worse than for their male counterparts. Chronic stress in women significantly increases risks for cardiovascular disease (heart attack, stroke, high blood pressure), depression, anxiety, and immune system suppression. It specifically impacts reproductive health, causing irregular periods and infertility, while also driving weight gain, digestive issues (IBS), and severe headaches.
Continuing with female health, menopause comes with difficult symptoms, including hot flashes, night sweats, and other symptoms can also be early warning flags for dementia. According to a new study, women who experience more difficult symptoms with menopause are more likely to develop early signs of dementia, like decreased mental function and mild behavioral impairment, compared to women who have had easier transitions.

Jack initiates the conversation by explaining carbohydrates and how the effect the body, including benefits vs drawbacks. When it comes to your health, the key to success is changing the dietary intake to focus on whole foods and specific nutritional supplements designed to balance the individual’s biochemistry. We are all unique and nothing is one-size-fits all when it comes to health.
When it comes to chronic pain, chronic neurological issues, chronic gastrointestinal issues, and allergies, it could be as simple (yet intricate) as eliminating food allergies, commonly grains and dairy products. When discussing grains, particularly wheat is the issue.
On the topic of medicinal drugs, Dr. Jack points out that they are poison to the body. Some of them do more harm than good and then require additional medication to combat side-effects from the previous medications. Or you wind up needing to be on the medication for the rest of your life to address the symptoms of your ailment as opposed to addressing the reason for the symptoms.
Doug joins Dr. Jack to address listener questions. Their conversations consists of rewiring out internal health program buy the way we think, dealing with emotional vampires, and how the mind can create disease.

First up, Doug and Dr. Ken begin with a discussion on eating fast food, what happens if you live near a fast food outlet without actually ever eating, and what a lifestyle of high salt-intake, high alcohol intake and high rates of saturated fat do to the longevity of your life. Additionally, the diet discussed also weakens the heart so that the heart doesn’t pump as well, raising your risk of cardiovascular event, as well as colon cancer.
Then, the conversation shifts to continuing cases of long-COVID, and why some people seem more likely to experience prolonged symptoms as opposed to others.
Doug and Dr. Ken also address listener questions. This week’s discussion includes Crohn’s Disease, what it is, symptoms that come with it, and good news of an immune suppressant drug helping ease symptoms in patients in contrast to conventional therapy.
Another question pertains to an increase in people being hard of hearing, but why there seems to be so much pushback in people refusing to wear hearing aids. There are also studies showing young children can be damaging their hearing at a younger age due to how loud the volume is of kids wearing headphone and ear buds when listening to music.

The Power of Mind for Your Health

Jack initiates the conversation by explaining the two approaches he uses in his clinic to help his patients regain and retain their health status. One being structure with his NUCCA Chiropractic expertise, and the other is nutritional with his GAPS Practitioner background.
Inspired by a recent conversation Dr. Jack had with Doug, is the relationship between your mind and your health. Negative thinking can make you sick, and negative eating can harm the brain. It goes deeper than that, too. The brain is a powerful thing. There’s a measurable phenomena of thinking yourself better. On the alternative, how you treat your body can also affect the mind in both a physical capacity as well as an emotional one.
Next up, Dr. Jack addresses a waning sex drive. In large part, when young men complain about this universal problem, the most prevalent cause is prescription drugs. For those not on prescription drugs, it can be a lack of fat soluble vitamins causing the problem. Dr. Jack breaks down what to look for and what to do if you are dealing with a low sex drive that is not related to the agin process.

First up, Doug and Dr. Ken begin with a link between niacin and heart disease, supplements from real food vs synthetic supplements, and a publication of drinking sugary drinks and thinking working out will offset what you’re putting in your body.
Then, the conversation continues a focus on working out with a shift to benefits for mental health. Studies show dancing as a preferred form of working out can help combat depression. More good news about exercising show that those who regularly move for health are more likely to avoid getting extremely ill if they get COVID-19, possible even lowering their risk of getting the virus at all.
Next up, evaluating 10 common illnesses and your risk factor with new genetic testing. These are nearly ready for use in doctors’ offices to be used to evaluate genetic risk for A-fib, breast cancer, kidney disease, heart disease, high cholesterol, prostate cancer, asthma, types 1 and 2 Diabetes, and obesity. This will help in preventive medicine and help patients lower their risk of developing these diseases.

Slow Burn = Lasting Results

On today’s Good Day Health Show - ON DEMAND…
Jack focuses on the correlation between diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, obesity, and the nutritional aspect. When the human body is not functioning at its optimum potential, it’s often a cause of dietary and lifestyle choices, leading to the aforementioned diseases. Ofttimes, one of these illnesses leads to the others arising as well.
At Dr. Jack’s clinic in Salt Lake City, he specializes in curing diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and high cholesterol with lifestyle changes. The more committed his patients are to these changes, the less reliant they will be on prescription medications.
Also, the importance of exercise in health is crucial to the benefits of overall health. Dr. Jack recommends a “slow burn” approach. This is where you might be doing a bench press and push it up and let it down, but you do it very slowly, and only around 4-6 repetitions per set, and about once every 5-7 days, or twice weekly… not being in the gym every single day. Studies show when you exercise in this manner, the positive effects last in your body for the next 5-7 days.
Lastly, Doug joins for an engaging discussion on brain fog and why generations before us didn’t appear to struggle with it the way we do today. In large part, their diets were completely different, they weren’t taking multiple drugs everyday, they didn’t have the artificial foods to the degree we do today, and they didn’t have the vast level of vaccinations we do today. There are a lot of toxicities we have today that didn’t exist, or weren’t as abundant, generations before.
