Tawnya was reported missing on December 8, 1996. She was last seen by an acquaintance during the evening hours in Spring Hill, Kansas, on December 7, 1996. Police originally suspected that she was a runaway but her mother, Lori, knew better. On June 7, 1997, Tawnya’s skeletonized remains were found in a farmer’s field in the 21000 block U.S. 169 Highway, Spring Hill, Kansas.
