EP 70 What Could Replace Addiction?

2/25/2024
In the previous episode we noted that merely focusing on practicing the mutually beneficial win-win situations will not fulfil our longing for meaning and connection. Thus it may not be sufficient to move us out of an increasingly addictive world, where all we have are fast pleasure hits provided by addictively designed food or social media. What is more satisfying than the currently addictive model of society? The key to this question has been presented to us for thousands of years in all sorts of mystical traditions. Here we look at chapter 38 of the 2500 year old "Tao Teh Ching" by Lao Tzu, translated by Hua-Ching Ni. We also look at what it predicts will happen, step by step, if one is not in touch with ones inner essence. And we look at what it suggests one do to find a way of living aligned with all, so that kindness is natural and the win-win interactions become beautiful and satisfying. EP 69 Life Beyond Narratives and Beyond Mutually Beneficial Win-Win

9/7/2023
Narratives are stories that we give power when we believe in them. They may originate in traumas, developmental traumas and this form our personalities, telling us who we are. They may come from our society and be partially factual or fictional. By moving beyond our current identity we can loosen the grip they have on us. This move will also tend to move us beyond just mutually beneficial exchanges, where we exchange one thing for another, into deeply meaningful and satisfying interactions. EP 68 What is Beauty?

5/15/2023
Beauty with capital B is like God with capital G - inexplicable. And yet, there is so much to say. It is our essence. It is one part of the trinity of our essence: Beauty, Consciousness, Love. Beauty is related to one of the fundamental ways in which we experience, in particular through perception. It is tied to Being. Moving away from our wholeness we move into separation, and it becomes more and more difficult to find beauty in all form, though it is its essence. We also talk about Consciousness and how it is tied to our awareness, our thoughts and our sequential sense of time. And we mention how Love provides us a direction and dynamics and is the essence of all feelings. When moving into separation it becomes fear. We also talk about Art being able to move us closer to Beauty, and thus closer to our essence and talk about the idea that the purpose of Art is to reveal Beauty. EP 67 Moving from Beauty

5/5/2023
The idea of moving from Beauty can be accessed through all we do but is perhaps easier to find through dance. When we move from Beauty we act from an expanded sense of self and a larger perspective. We act from love, instead of acting from fear. By letting go, opening up, becoming present, receiving and inviting in the moment we can let Beauty build up in us until it becomes almost inevitable for us to move from it. Then we move in service to it and it becomes of benefit to all. Practicing moving from Beauty can be deeply transformative and profoundly meaningful, and is, unsurprisingly, in service to our world. EP 66 Four Perspectives

1/30/2023
The astrologer Michael Lennox once said, in passing: "The world is not happening to you, not even for you, or through you, but as you." I found these perspectives thought-worthy and decided to think about them out loud. It is interesting how each step along this process of going from the first, to the second, to the third and to the fourth perspective is automatically achieved by letting go of identification. In the end, de-identifying with everything cannot be distinguished from being all. If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions for the podcast you can contact me on Instagram @BasiasThoughts. EP 65 How Faith Creates Miracles

7/24/2022
Is it possible to keep our faith in spite of all the dark moments we experience? What is faith? What can we base it on an how can we use it to have a beautiful life? We start off by listening to a part of the tango “Tormenta” (Storm, in English), arranged by Carlos di Sarli featuring Mario Pomar, as a poetic expression for the lack of faith in life. "...Yo siento que mi fe se tambalea, que la gente mala, vive ¡Dios! mejor que yo…" In English: "...I feel that my faith falters, that bad people live, God! better than me..." We note that, as we spoke in the previous episode, the systems of our world are set up in a way that favours people who are not ethical actors. However, we also note that we are actually not set up in that way. We actually prefer love over what we call negative emotions. In wishing to live in a way that enables these expansive emotions we actually use faith. Such a way is similar to what we discussed in episode 47, where we do not focus on the details and the reductionistic step-by-step process in the beginning. Instead we need to be able to open up to a wider field of possibilities, potentialities. The basis of faith is uncertainty and our knowledge of how profoundly limited we are in our minds. We mention Michael A. Singer and his book "The Surrender Experiment", as an example of a person who manages to let go of his attachments to the details and roles and is thus able to live a life filled with miracles. EP 64 Why is Abundance Rare?

7/1/2022
Why is life so difficult? Why do we have to struggle so much and yet often gain so little? Why are millions starving? Why is there so much lack and why is abundance so difficult to come by? Even though most would agree that abundance and love are what we value, the systems around our material world are not set up that way. Instead our systems are set up to value scarcity. We protect it and manufacture it. And we use fear to make sure that we can keep whatever scarce goods we can gain. Is it possible to build a system that values abundance instead of scarcity? What would that mean? Then, that which we value would not be something that could bring me an advantage over someone else, instead we would value that which elevates us all the most. This requires a profound change in all of our interactions, including communication, and could lead to a system where we would live more aligned with who we feel we are and with what we feel we value (love, freedom, creativity, abundance). EP 63 How Can We Do the Most Good?

6/9/2022
Inspired by the movement called "Effective Altruism", I asked myself the question as I have seen it posed: "How can I do the most good, given my limited resources?" As I asked it, I wondered if the second part of the question, "...given my limited resources", was not tripping me up in finding the most natural answer. To show how the second part is problematic I start out by one of the suggestions from the Effective Altruism community members, which proposes that we end greed. Thus we explore the subject of greed, desire, power, time itself, instant gratification, addiction, sacrifice, and end up focusing on identity. If we were to act from our infinite essence, as our essence, within the finite world, would the natural consequence not be that of automatically doing "the most good"? EP 62 The System Decides What We See and Who We Become

5/1/2022
"The Devil is in the Structure", and it is the structure, or the system, that provides a slanting floor and makes it easier for us to become, identify as, and live as agents for the system. Systems ultimately lend us their eyes and we end up seeing the world through their perspective, losing other sight. We talk about this in the context of the system of "Capitalism". If this is so, what type of system or structure would we be interested in? How would we like to see the world? We mention that our current system is in the ending phase of self-termination. To create one that may stand a chance to survive long-term and thrive, combining with our nature, we look to a system beyond separation, where all-win is the objective. We briefly say state some of the core issues to be addressed. Thus the easier, and harder, path to becoming what you truly choose to become, based on your pure inspiration, is one where we start by living in a way that eventually creates a structure, or system, which allows us to envision the world as we truly wish to see it. EP 61 Helping Out of Fear

1/27/2022
Do you feel the urge to help others? Do you know where it comes from? Sometimes it comes from love, and sometimes, like those times when you feel the need to give others advice and solutions, it might come from another place. Learning to recognise where it comes from for you can help you become more free and loving. In this episode we investigate where it often comes from for the schizoid structure (based on Lowen's Bioenergetics). In this case it may be based on past trauma and come from fear. We need to help in order to feel adequate, worthy of being a good person, worthy of love. We look at three examples of how this may present itself, and how it creates an internal drama that leads to suffering and is disconnected from the actual situation at hand. We then talk about how by identifying the fear we can look for a larger perspective that will let us drop it. Here we discuss the paradigm of judgement, releasing it, and moving into ones essence. EP 60 The Crossroads Where We Are

12/31/2021
In this final episode of 2021 I discuss the following picture: http://basiapiechocinska.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/EP60Crossroads-scaled.jpg It represents a crossroads that we currently find ourselves at as humans on Earth. We see the hand of technology pushing us into a place of choice and two main roads being presented to us. One road is represented by a caterpillar and invites us to continue living as we have, with a tribe-like identity and attitude. It leads to slavery or destruction. The other is one represented by the chrysalis and invites us to morph internally into a butterfly-like being, leaving behind a limited identity that comes with ideas of threats and fears. EP 59 Stepping Out of Polarity

12/29/2021
In times of great polarity we talk about two ways of stepping out of it and gaining insight and perspective. The first method is related to ancient battle tactics, where the opponent wishes to distract you and create an internal fight, so that they may have the upper hand and be able to achieve their goal. Here is the picture of the King and his Adviser I was referring to in the episode https://labourheartlands.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/pitchforks-.jpg. The second method is related to going deeper inside, finding the inner trigger, and disarming it, so that it will be more difficult to pull you into polarity in the future. EP 58 Awakening from Mass-Hypnosis

12/3/2021
We are currently finding ourselves in situations we would not have seen as justifiable only two years ago, and yet we are there. The situation is continuing to escalate as a totalitarian-like movement sweeps across the many countries. In this episode we talk about some of the things we could have thought unthinkable, such as medical mandates, talks of lifetime prison for non-compliant persons, concentration camps and them being used as pure punishment for lying, without any recourse to law. EP 57 The Freedom of an Actor

11/21/2021
When we become aware that we are an actor we get the freedom of being able to choose what roles we play. By relaxing and dwelling in the unknown present, we train our mind in a way that transcends and translates into all our experiences. It is like strength training, which automatically makes us stronger in all situations where muscles are involved. By mindfully staying present for as little as 15 minutes a day we start being presented by opportunities to respond to situations, as opposed to automatically reacting to them. The presence also tends to spill over and spontaneously manifest as beauty. In this episode we also talk about the effects of mindfulness training on deployed military. Also we talk about further training of thought and feeling patterns in our mind and body and how a basic meditation habit can be helpful. EP 56 Judgement

11/7/2021
Understanding how and why judgement is problematic for us may be helpful in directing our attention towards alternative ways of being. In our society we have been trained away from our natural way of being into a way that is based around praise and punishment, judgement, and consequently violence. We employ this when interacting with others as well as with ourselves. It takes away our ability of being present to the beauty of the moment and reduces our ability to solve problems. On a level of society it is currently driving us into extinction. We can, however, move into a fuller, wiser, way of being, that will bring satisfaction. It is a way of being beyond the Mind. By learning to pay attention to when we tense up physically as well as emotionally and when we judge, we can start practicing "letting go". By spending time in non-objective meditation, we can become more confident in our nature and allow ourselves to let go of the identification with our roles. This way we may anchor our mind in our heart and naturally live from it, as opposed to living from the stagnant constructs of judgement. EP 55 Silence as the Origin of Win-Win

10/15/2021
In this short, short episode we connect some of the ideas we have spoken about. In particular we see how The Art of Silence, of practicing silence, is the origin of the language of the giraffe. This is Marshall Rosenberg's Nonviolent Communication. It is also the language of win-win games. It is what is needed if we wish to physically stay on Earth, and not extinguish ourselves. By dwelling in silence and letting go of identification with our roles, we awaken love and can speak directly from it. As such, we elevate all and become a gift to the world. EP 54 Are We In a Totalitarian Movement Now?

10/3/2021
In this episode we primarily look at Hannah Arendt's 1951 book "The Origins of Totalitarianism" and try to see if we can recognise some of the dynamics she writes about, in our current covid-world. The prerequisites for the beginnings of a totalitarian dynamics, of rootlessness, unattached anxiety, and meaninglessness have been escalated by covid-lockdowns. A central narrative is being presented to the masses. Should we worry about the next step? What did the next steps look like in past totalitarian regimes? How can we make sure we avoid the atrocities? By finding a bigger threat than the current one we can snap out of a totalitarian hypnosis like state, but such an exit is only likely to lead us to latch onto a new narrative. A constructive way out is one where we find meaning and rootedness in a natural way, thus making it more difficult to fall prey to totalitarian dynamics, as well as addictions in general. By learning who we truly are, and thus no longer identifying with ideologies or roles, we might find the satisfaction we are looking for. EP 53 Is Giraffe the Language of the Future?

9/21/2021
Marshall Rosenberg´s "Nonviolent Communication", or "the language of the giraffe" is a heart centered all-win type of interaction. In this episode we discuss it as a possible future language of a civilisation that is based around win-win solutions for all, including the planet. We talk about money and how it is difficult to fit such a concept into the language of a giraffe as it creates incentive and is a key feature of the hierarchical power system we are currently in. We also look at how Rosenberg was able to work around it. If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions for the podcast you can contact me on Instagram @BasiasThoughts. EP 52 "You're Welcome"

8/25/2021
This episode is actually inspired by a Disney song. We all probably know that what we focus on we tend to notice more of and who/what we identify as provides a perspective for our life. These are almost cliché, and yet when used wisely can prove life changing. Many of our globally most impactful problems can be traced back to an "we - they" outlook on life. It is the ancient win-lose game of tribes that is currently no longer possible to uphold and have humanity and most of the species on Earth survive. In the podcast I mention a pdf I just finished drawing with these insights. Download the pdf with my pictures, called "The Societal Glitch", from here: http://basiapiechocinska.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/The-Societal-Glitch.pdf The song, previously alluded to, is called "You're Welcome", and if listened to with a particular mindset provides a beautiful use of the idea of focus on what is true and beautiful together with an insight regarding our inextricable identity with all that is. You are given, gifted the ability to play your very particular and creative role because of all that is. You can be you because of everything else and every being that came before you. You have not "earned" it. You have not "paid" for it. You are gifted it. You're welcome. By listening to the song and seeing, Maui, the demi-god, as a representation of Nature, you can get that feeling. EP 51 The Violence of Positive Judgement

7/18/2021
Sometimes it may be difficult to see how steeped in judgement we are and what it leads to. So, we start out by looking at the violence inherent in common compliments. We talk about how not only compliments but all sorts of rewards and payments rob us of our joy and creativity. We mention how our global, interconnected civilisation has interdependent and exponentially growing risks that increase our probability of extinction and how their interconnectedness requires an approach beyond that of one side winning, while another takes a hit. We note that it seems that our inner nature is more aligned with a possible solution. That inner nature is adapted through our current societies to learn to live in judgement. We also look at how negative judgment, through manipulation, etc, can lead to traumas. (If you enjoyed this part I have a whole course on how we are shaped on Udemy.com. Just search for my course on Bioenergetics there.) Finally we point to our inner guidance system, which actually tells us when we are going against our inner nature. By spending more time just being, relaxing all physical, mental, and emotional tensions we can become more sensitive to it and will have an easier time to find a non-violent, heart-centred way of being that takes us beyond judgement and into the possibility of creating a beautiful world.
