10 Steps to Enjoying the Holidays without Regrets Rhonda Stoppe [00:00:00]: Today, we're gonna talk about an article that I wrote called 10 Steps to Enjoy the Holidays Without Regrets. Wow. How is it that the holidays are upon us? And they are. And not only the holidays, but I have 15 grandkids. Most of their birthdays are in the months of October, November, December. So we have so much fun over the next few months. Lots of family gatherings, lots of time together. Maybe you can relate. Rhonda Stoppe [00:00:29]: But sometimes, we can make decisions. We can interact in ways that When the family all goes home, we have some regrets. So today, we're gonna visit that topic, 10 steps to enjoy the holidays without regrets. Holidays with family can stir up all kinds of emotions. For some, it's a time of gift giving and thankful reflection. For others, It means stressful family gatherings or a grievous reminder that a loved one you have lost is no longer with you. As holidays approach, we can look at 10 steps that you can practice to help prepare to celebrate in ways that you will not have regrets. Number 1, realize the value of remembering God's faithfulness. Rhonda Stoppe [00:01:13]: In Joshua chapter 4, the Israelites were able to cross over the Jordan Because God stopped the waters. As they crossed, Joshua instructed leaders to pick up stones to build a monument to God's faithfulness. Although Israel had witnessed miracles, God knew their propensity to forget and yours and mine too. Right? So he instructed Joshua to pick up Stones from the very river that he'd stopped as a memorial to their children of his faithfulness. Not only was this monument To remind Israel of their descendants that they should fear the Lord forever, it would also serve as a Testimony to all the people of all the earth that he is the mighty one true god. Joshua 4:1 through 24 is where you'll find that story. God's works We're not only for Israel, they were also a way of making his name known to all the nations. Remember when the spies entered Jericho and Rahab the harlot hid them? She said this. Rhonda Stoppe [00:02:16]: I love this. I know the Lord has given you the land, That the terror of you has fallen on us and that all the inhabitants of the land are fainthearted because of you, For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you. That's Joshua 29. I'm sorry. 29 through 11. When God shows up in mighty ways, it builds our faith. Right? We should learn from God's instructions to remind Selves, our children, our grandchildren, and the watching world that god is the one true god. This holiday season, do not forget the miraculous way that God intervened into the affairs of men to establish our great nation. Rhonda Stoppe [00:03:01]: This Christmas, remember how he gave his son to save us from our sins. Let's move on. Number 2, Expect something will not go as planned. For 1 holiday meal, I made the sweet potatoes that I make every year. And after I placed the marshmallows on the top of them and I popped them into the oven, I forgot.
