By far, the message of "Making Wise Decisions" has been our most shared message. It would only make sense that we would share it as an Podcast Episode. We meet people from all walks of life who are either in the midst of making a very important decision or who are dealing with the fall out of having made a bad decision. The Bible is full of instruction of how to make wise decisions yet this is a topic not taught often on Sunday mornings, at least from my own personal experience. Melissa and I believe this is an opportune moment to share Scripture that reflects the significance of wisdom in decision-making. We would also like to present our personal experiences highlighting how God has guided us in making prudent choices. We recently had the privilege of interviewing the incredibly talented Yaron Gershovsky. He’s not only a world-renowned pianist and keyboardist; he’s also an accomplished arranger and producer, having served as the Musical Director for the famous Jazz Super Group, The Manhattan Transfer for over forty years. Yaron’s impressive resume includes collaborations with jazz legends like Pharaoh Sanders, The Count Basie Orchestra, Abraham Laboriel, Richie Havens, Take 6, and many others. Yaron graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and his remarkable talents have played a substantial role in two Grammy-winning songs, as well as one other Grammy-nominated piece. Yaron has collaborated on a number of projects with talented writers like Jimmy Thrasher, Lisa Jason, and Katie Barbour, with the standout piece being the song "More To Say," which paved the way for the "More To Say Work." Send us a text The Holiday Season is one of the favorite times of year for Melissa and I. Both of our families have been farmers for generations and Melissa and I carry that tradition on today. Being we have such a background in farming, harvest in the fall is something that has always been a major part of our lives. After having planted in the spring, praying for the right balance of rain and sun, and after having tended to the crops all spring and summer, harvest has always been a welcomed reward. As a child, playing on tractors, cotton pickers, and combines was always one of my favorite things to do. But my absolute favorite thing to do was to play in the cotton wagons when they were full of those tiny white balls of cotton. I always had a couple of months in October and November to play in the wagons before they went to the cotton gin, which was always in harvest season. Harvest Season always gives way to the Holiday Season of November and December which seems to just top off such an enjoyable time for Melissa and I. Preparing for Thanksgiving and then Christmas. Starting the Holiday Season off by going to fall festivals, decorating for Thanksgiving and then for Christmas. Having the entire family together around the Thanksgiving Table and then the Christmas Tree. During this time of year we celebrate so many family Holiday Traditions that have been carried on for generations in our family. Harvest Season and the Holiday Season are such special times of year for our family, we found it only fitting to begin sharing some of our favorite Holiday Traditions with you, our listeners. Send us a text At the time of releasing this episode, many would say we live in Uncertain Times. If one takes a moment for reflection, the signs are all there. The headlines showcase them each day; random violence, lawlessness, wars, anxiety, depression, mental health challenges, suicide, technology that is eliminating jobs, persecution of people of faith, raging inflation, housing cost beyond many's reach, entrainment that is becoming increasingly dark, a raging drug epidemic, all time low Church attendance, and many are seeking peace in these uncertain times. Uncertainty in one's life can lead to mental health symptoms such as stress, poor sleep quality, mental fatigue, fear of loosing control, anxiety, and depression. Physical health symptoms of uncertainty include forgetfulness, elevated heart rate, sweating, appetite changes, nausea, body pain, irritability, and fatigue. If given the proper spiritual attention, uncertainty can be replaced with peace in one’s life. The uncertain aspects which are out of one’s control may not change, but how one approaches these uncertainties and deals with them can be. The areas of life we talk about in this episode are the temporal needs, life purpose, and eternal security. Trusting God with these areas of life can lead to peace in uncertainty. Send us a text In my line of work, I meet new people almost every day, so many; in fact, over the course of a year, I meet a lot of new people. Some people I meet are just a one-time thing encountered in that day’s business functions. Some people I meet turn into business acquaintances whom I will continue to do business with, talking randomly to every so often. But then there are those rare few that you encounter every so often in life who become close friends who literally change your life for the better, and that is who Fletcher is to us. We met Fletch in 2022 at CRS in Nashville, which is the Country Radio Seminar. Our 501(c)3 ministry, Silent Witness, Inc., had a booth set up, and we were promoting our current Project that year, “LIVE.” Suicide prevention is something that Fletch believes in, so he stopped by our booth to visit with us, and it was during that conversation a friendship and common ground were found to work together. Out of everything we do, our music, the work we do with Silent Witness, Inc, and everything we do in our Christian Life Coaching Ministry, it was this podcast show that struck a chord with the three of us. Fletch said he would be happy to be involved in our podcast show, and soon thereafter, he began producing these podcast shows for us, which has just raised our work to a whole new level. Little did any of us know that about a month from that day, Fletcher would be diagnosed with a rare form of cancer that would set his life on a whole new course. Send us a text A friend and I met for lunch one day to discuss some ministry business. As we were talking, the waitress came up to take our order. We talked for a few minutes and then placed our order. As she was about to leave, my friend said we would be praying in a few minutes before we ate, and he asked if there was anything we could pray for her about. She took a deep breath and immediately said, “Peace '' pray for me to be at peace and to have peace in my life. She said thank you and strolled off to turn our order in. I sat there for a few minutes and took that experience in. A young lady whom most would think had the world on a leash was asking for us to pray for peace. The daily headlines indicate that people's mental and spiritual states are not at ease, not at peace, and it became apparent to me how important a message on peace and a new beginning is greatly needed for today's society, God shows us in Philippians 4:4-7 how to become and remain centered in our spirit and minds and how His perfect peace keeps our hearts and minds safe and at ease. After losing his late wife Tammy to cancer some three years earlier, Jimmy Thrasher noticed a building being torn down on Woodward Avenue in Muscle Shoals, Al. He then began to think of how much things had changed since losing his wife. He then began to think of how much his life had changed since losing her, and a nagging question arose. What would she think about all of the changes, what would she think about me? As he continued to drive, the answer wrapped him up like a warm blanket – “She would be proud.” That experience weighed on Jimmy’s mind and heart until action was required.
