Christianity Today Says That Jesus Doubted God and His Word. But Is This True? ABSOLUTEY NOT!

4/19/2023
The article I quote from Christianity Today in this video is titled, "Jesus was the God-Man, not the God-Superman." It is one of the worst articles I've ever read by theologians who claim to be Bible-believers. They argue Jesus had doubts because, temporarily, Jesus believed the Devil, He doubted God's plan, and He must doubt in order to save us. Ironically, the authors host a podcast called "Slow Theology." You got that right! And, another irony is that the article was published on April 1, 2021, which is April Fools Day! But, unfortunately, they weren't joking. You can read the full article here, https://web.archive.org/web/20230404023007/https://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2021/april-web-only/jesus-god-superman-doubt-temptation-holy-week.html#christianitytoday #christianitytodaymagazine #christianity #holyweek #doubt *If you enjoyed this video, hit that subscribe button. **If you'd like to support my ministry, you can become a patron here: https://www.patreon.com/user/membership?u=16977519 ***This video is an episode of my podcast, All Truth is God's Truth. 2 Thessalonians 1:3-12 - "Hell Glorifies God PART 4" of the Series "How Do Hell & Heaven Glorify God?"

4/5/2023
According to 2 Thessalonians 1:3-12, How does Hell glorify God? Hell glorifies God because it shows His. . . v.3-5 – 1. Retribution. Hell shows God’s vengeance against His children’s enemies. "3 We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers, as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing. 4 Therefore we ourselves boast about you in the churches of God for your steadfastness and faith in all your persecutions and in the afflictions that you are enduring. 5 This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering—" Hell glorifies God because it shows His. . . v.6-10 – 2. Relief. Hell shows that God provides relief for His children from their enemies. "6 since indeed God considers it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you, 7 and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels 8 in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might, 10 when he comes on that day to be glorified in his saints, and to be marveled at among all who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed." Hell glorifies God because it shows His. . . v.11-12 – 3. Reputation. Hell shows God’s, Christ’s, and the Church’s glory. "11 To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, 12 so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ." *If you enjoyed this video, hit that subscribe button. **If you'd like to support my ministry, you can become a patron here: https://www.patreon.com/user/membership?u=16977519 ***This video is an episode of my podcast, All Truth is God's Truth. Luke 16:19-31 - "Hell Glorifies God PART 3" of the Series "How Do Hell & Heaven Glorify God?"

4/4/2023
How does Hell glorify God? Hell glorifies God because it shows God’s. . . v.19-25 – 1. Justice. Hell shows the world’s injustice and God’s justice. 19 “There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. 20 And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, 21 who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man's table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried, 23 and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. 24 And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’ 25 But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. Hell glorifies God because it shows God’s. . . v.26 – 2. Power. Hell shows the world’s weakness and God’s power. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.’ Hell glorifies God because it shows God’s. . . v.27-31 – 3. Grace. Hell shows the world’s selfishness and God’s grace. 27 And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father's house— 28 for I have five brothers—so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.’ 29 But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’ 30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31 He said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.’” *If you enjoyed this video, hit that subscribe button. **If you'd like to support my ministry, you can become a patron here: https://www.patreon.com/user/membership?u=16977519 ***This video is an episode of my podcast, All Truth is God's Truth. Matthew 25:31-46 - "Hell Glorifies God PART 2" of the Series "How Do Hell & Heaven Glorify God?"

3/30/2023
According to Matthew 25:31-46, Why does Hell glorify God? Hell glorifies God because it shows His. . . v.31-33 – 1. Sovereignty. Christ separates the righteous from the unrighteous. 31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. Hell glorifies God because it shows His. . . v.34-40 – 2. Salvation. God’s children are blessed. 34 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ Hell glorifies God because it shows His. . . v.41-46 – 3. Seriousness. Christ is serious about righteousness and sin. 41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ 44 Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ 45 Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ 46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” *If you enjoyed this video, hit that subscribe button. **If you'd like to support my ministry, you can become a patron here: https://www.patreon.com/user/membership?u=16977519 ***This video is an episode of my podcast, All Truth is God's Truth. Isaiah 66:15-24 - "Hell Glorifies God PART 1" of the Series "How Do Hell & Heaven Glorify God?"

3/29/2023
According to Isaiah 66:15-24, why does hell glorify God? Hell glorifies God because it is. . . v.15-17 – 1. Judgment. Hell is God’s judgment. “15 For behold, the LORD will come in fire, and his chariots like the whirlwind, to render his anger in fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. 16 For by fire will the LORD enter into judgment, and by his sword, with all flesh; and those slain by the LORD shall be many. 17 “Those who sanctify and purify themselves to go into the gardens, following one in the midst, eating pig's flesh and the abomination and mice, shall come to an end together, declares the LORD." v.18-21 – 2. Just. God is just. Hell is just. "18 “For I know their works and their thoughts, and the time is coming to gather all nations and tongues. And they shall come and shall see my glory, 19 and I will set a sign among them. And from them I will send survivors to the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, who draw the bow, to Tubal and Javan, to the coastlands far away, that have not heard my fame or seen my glory. And they shall declare my glory among the nations. 20 And they shall bring all your brothers from all the nations as an offering to the Lord, on horses and in chariots and in litters and on mules and on dromedaries, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, says the Lord, just as the Israelites bring their grain offering in a clean vessel to the house of the Lord. 21 And some of them also I will take for priests and for Levites, says the Lord." v.22-24 – 3. Justice. Hell is what God’s enemies deserve. Hell is justice. "22 “For as the new heavens and the new earth that I make shall remain before me, says the LORD, so shall your offspring and your name remain. 23 From new moon to new moon, and from Sabbath to Sabbath, all flesh shall come to worship before me, declares the LORD. 24 “And they shall go out and look on the dead bodies of the men who have rebelled against me. For their worm shall not die, their fire shall not be quenched, and they shall be an abhorrence to all flesh.” This is Part 1 of 8 total parts, in the series, "How Do Hell & Heaven Glorify God?" *If you enjoyed this episode, hit that subscribe button. **If you'd like to support my ministry, you can become a patron here: https://www.patreon.com/user/membership?u=16977519 ***This video is an episode of my podcast, All Truth is God's Truth. Dean Inserra, SBC Pastor, Says, For the Homosexual, Holiness, not Heterosexuality, is the Goal

3/1/2023
Dean Inserra, Lead Pastor of City Church in Tallahassee, FL and SBC Executive Committee Trustee, says, "...the goal for the Christian with same-sex desires is not heterosexuality, but holiness." But is this biblically accurate? Absolutely not! My Response: 1) Dean's big issue is that he's practicing anthropology and calling it theology. He has asked, "homosexuals," "Can you stop being gay?" and based on their answer, he has formulated his empty rhetoric, "God has called you to be holy not heterosexual." But, there is no other holy sexuality except for heterosexuality. Every single person who has ever been created, based on God's design of male & female, is a heterosexual. But some suppress this truth in unrighteousness. Yet, our feelings do not define our sexuality. Our Designer, God, defines our sexuality. And Genesis 2:20-25 says that God made Adam, and then made Eve from Adam for Adam, and for this reason, "a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh" (Gen 2:21-24). God's design is clear: male and female sexuality in its entirety is for the pursuit of biblical marriage. And telling Christians whose flesh tells them they're "gay" that they are not heterosexual is unbiblical and is a denial of God creating them male or female. 2) God's design, not our fleshly desire, is the only prerequisite for marriage. Christians who desire sexual and/or marital intimacy should pursue biblical marriage regardless what their flesh tells them. For, "It is not good that the man should be alone..." (Gen 2:18). God literally created males and females for the two to become one flesh, to come together in the covenant of marriage. 3) The Bible says that singleness is good to pursue for the sake of Christ's kingdom, but it takes a gift from God (Matt 19:11; 1 Cor 7:7-10). The Christian who is having same-sex desires does not have the gift of singleness. Therefore, he or she should reject the flesh & cultivate desires for God's design, & should pursue opposite-sex friends, in hope that he or she will one day marry an opposite-sex Christian. Why? Christians should hate their flesh and love God's design. Christians should order their lives according to God's design. And desiring marital intimacy means God's design for you is to pursue biblical marriage. 4) Dean is treating the sin of homosexuality as a special sin, for he would not apply his logic to other sins. For example, imagine saying to a Christian who is having trans desires, "Your goal is holiness, not living according to your God-designed sex." Or, telling a Christian who has desires to steal, "Your goal is holiness, not working hard." Not only should Christians who have same-sex desires totally reject them, they should also seek to cultivate desires for opposite-sex Christians, to lead to biblical marriage. *By "cultivate," I don't mean lust. Rather, I mean cultivate desire for one day cutting a sexual covenant of marriage with an oppositive-sex Christian. In other words, the goal is holiness, but this holiness, for the Christian who is having same-sex desires, includes cultivating heterosexual desires and pursuing heterosexual marriage, because it is God's design for us, since He created us male or female, and these Christians do not have the gift of singleness. If they had the gift of singleness, they would not be talking about their "same-sex attraction" or struggling with it. *If you enjoyed this episode, hit that subscribe button. **If you'd like to support my ministry, you can become a patron here: https://www.patreon.com/user/membership?u=16977519. What is the Lord's Supper?

2/8/2023
1 Corinthians 10:16 - "The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ?" We partake in the blood of Christ and the body of Christ when we partake of the Lord’s Supper with faith. The big debate in church history has been over whether we literally (transubstantiation taught by Roman Catholicism), half-literally (consubstantiation taught by Martin Luther), spiritually (spiritual presence taught by John Calvin), or in memory memorial view taught by Ulrich Zwingli), partake of Christ. Both the Memorial view and the Spiritual Presence view are permitted based on our church's confession of faith, the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. Although, I do not like the phrase “means of grace” because Rome teaches that the sacraments actually save those who partake of them. The proclamation of God’s word indeed saves sinners due to the Holy Spirit’s work with the proclamation of God’s word, transforming their hearts and their faith. And the Holy Spirit also uses the proclamation of God’s word to strengthen the faith of Christians in their hearts and minds. In other words, the word of God is different from the words of men. And the Holy Spirit takes this Word, preached through the Lord's Supper and baptism, and saves and sanctifies sinners, beginning and bringing to the finish, salvation in them. Furthermore, you do not have to participate in the sacrament to be saved or sanctified because God saves by grace through faith in Christ with the preaching of the word. God does not save through the Lord’s Supper or Baptism or the Word. Rather, God saves with the Word. The Holy Spirit takes the word and applies it to those who have faith in Christ. However, participating in the Lord’s Supper with your brothers and sisters in Christ on a regular basis, helps to sanctify us. As does hearing the word preached, praying the word, memorizing the word, seeing new believers baptized, etc. The Word is preached through the Lord’s Supper, because it’s a drama given to us by God to communicate truth! The same is true of baptism. The Lord’s Supper preaches the word of God, and the Holy Spirit applies that word to those who participate in faith, believing the word preached, and He sanctifies us, matures us—whether that Word is preached through preaching, singing, the Lord’s Supper, Baptism, reading the Word, praying the Word, etc. To summarize, the Lord’s supper is an ordinance or sacrament that reinforces our faith, joins Christians together, and sets us apart from the world who does not observe the Lord’s Supper with us. And as we partake, we preach to one another 1) We all need Jesus. 2) We all have received Christ through faith. 3) Christ is returning soon to wage war on His enemies and set up an eternal kingdom in the New Heavens and New Earth. What Does the Bible Teach About Abortion?

2/7/2023
INTRO STATS: Abortions in the United States (From all abortion providers in all states. *The 620,327 stat from the CDC does not include CA, MD, and NH) 862,320 – 2018 916,460 – 2019 930,160 – 2020 *Guttmacher Institute, Formerly Planned Parenthood's Research Arm https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1363/psrh.12215 INTRO ILLUS: A year or so ago, I was in the local AT&T Mobile store here in town, near Walmart. I was working on getting a new phone because mine was no longer supported. It took about an hour. While I was waiting, two employees started talking about abortion. Each said, “It should be a woman’s choice whether or not she keeps her baby.” They kept using the term “baby.” I calmly spoke up and said, “If an embryo is a baby, you cannot kill it.” That ended the discussion in its tracks. Because if any embryo is a baby from conception, and it is, then every miscarriage is the death of a baby and every abortion is the murder of a baby. We all know this; that is why we weep over miscarriages. We do not weep over what the embryo would become; we weep over what it was from conception…a very small baby! A very small image-bearer! The Bible teaches that. . . 1. Regardless of age or location, men, women, and children are made in God's image (Genesis 1:26-28). 2. Jesus was truly human from conception (Luke 1:26-41). 3. David was truly human from conception (Psalm 139:13-16; Psalm 51:3-6). 4. 1 Corinthians 10:23-33 - "In Matters of Conscience, Do All to the Glory of God" - UNDERSTANDING OUR CONSCIENCES PART 6

2/3/2023
INTRO: Remember Our consciences are the inner courts in our hearts that hold us accountable to the right and wrong we believe. But our consciences are only good at judging us if they are well-informed by Scripture, and we’re repenting and believing in Christ. Sin has warped all creation, including our consciences. We need Jesus! For, apart from turning to Christ to cleanse our evil consciences, they will not be biblically informed by the Holy Spirit, to where our consciences can accurately and faithfully judge us, keep us from harm, and spur us to loving obedience and faithfulness to God. Think of your conscience as like playing a new sport or game for the first time. You begin, and you do not know the rules. But, as you play, your conscience is informed what the rules are, and you begin to change how you play as you’re better informed. How do we do all things to the glory of God? We do all things to the glory of God by. . . v.23 - 1. Being helpful and encouraging. v.24 - 2. Exalting our neighbors above ourselves. v.25-27 – 3. Not seeking the world’s approval. v.28-30 – 4. Not needlessly wounding other people’s consciences. v.31-33 – 5. Limiting our freedom for God’s glory and the salvation of many. David Prince, Longtime Southern Baptist Theological Seminary Professor, ERLC Trustee, and SBC Pastor Says that Same-sex Attraction is not Sin Unless You Act on It

2/3/2023
David Prince, Longtime professor at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, SBC Pastor, and Trustee for the ERLC, in an article on his website, "Temptation, Jesus, Sin, and Same-sex Attraction," argues that same-sex attraction is not sin unless you act on it. But is his heresy biblically correct? No. *This is heresy for at least two reasons: 1) It's blatantly unbiblical. 2) Both Roman Catholics (to the 1700s) and Protestants (to the 1900s) for most of church history argued that original sin and all that comes from it is morally culpable sin. Same-sex attraction is produced by original sin. How can something produced by sin be anything but sin? Furthermore, 1) Christ’s temptation cannot be used to justify same-sex attraction. Jesus was tempted and did not sin (Luke 4:1-13); however, Jesus’ temptation remains distinct from the temptations of sinners after the fall of Adam in at least 2 ways: First, Jesus was only tempted from without not from within. In order for Jesus to be tempted from within, He would have to choose to desire the Devil’s gifts, because He had no original sin from Adam. Second, Jesus was tempted by an objective desire for a good thing that the Devil then claimed was his to give. He desired the objects the Devil offered because they belonged to God and they were intrinsically good, but He did not desire them from the Devil. He was tempted to receive what His Father had already told Him would be His during His ministry and/or after the cross. Yet, He did not desire to submit to the Devil’s will, only His Father’s will. Same-sex attraction is an inward desire for something evil. Jesus has never had an evil desire. Being perfect, He would have to will evil desire for it to be in His heart. *Also, it’s crazy how pastors want to use Jesus being tempted by food, angels protecting Him, and being King of creation, all things His Father was going to give Him during His ministry or after to the cross. They want to use Jesus’ desire for these good things to justify a desire to have gay sex!!! Are you kidding me?! 2) Hebrews 4:15 does not mean that Jesus was tempted with every sin of man under the sun. Rather, the author of Hebrews is saying that Jesus is our Truly Human High Priest, & that as Truly Human, He was really tempted, yet without sin. Thus, Jesus is a better High Priest than the Old Testament High Priests who were sinners. Otherwise, Prince has to argue Jesus was tempted with atheism, abuse, adultery, bestiality, murder, etc., if He was tempted with every sin under the sun. 3) Prince presents a Modern Roman Catholic view of sin here. Jesus said we must love God with all our heats, souls, & minds, & love our neighbors as ourselves. Same-sex attraction neither loves God nor our neighbors. Modern Roman Catholics teach that evil desire from original sin only becomes culpable sin if you act on it. But the apostle Paul says his flesh is sin in Romans 7. And the 10th Commandment says, “You shall not desire.” Prince does not have a biblical view of sin. He grounds sin in man’s will like Modern Roman Catholics rather than in its lack of obedience to God. Sin is not sin because man chooses it. Sin is sin because it’s contrary to God. Anything in us that is against God is sin. Praise God for Christ who takes away all our sin & gives us His righteousness! 1 Corinthians 8:4-13 - "In Matters of Conscience, Love and Freedom are Essential" - UNDERSTANDING OUR CONSCIENCES PART 5

2/2/2023
INTRO: [Read 1 Corinthians 8:1-3] In the first 3 verses of this chapter, we learn that love is essential when we’re discussing “matters of conscience.” Remember also that “matters of conscience” are those areas in life that the Scriptures do not speak about. If the Scripture says or implies that we should something or shouldn’t do something, or that we should believe something or shouldn’t believe something, the Scriptures are always right. We must always submit to God’s word. He has revealed Himself clearly. Paul said it this way in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” Where the Scriptures speak, God speaks. They are God-breathed. Thus, they’re non-negotiable. By Scripture alone friends. But, concerning the areas in life where Scripture is silent, we must submit to our consciences, for they are informed with Scripture by God the Holy Spirit. Love must govern our consciences—love for God with all our hearts, souls, and minds, and love for our neighbors (Matt. 22:37-39). This, however, does not mean we are not free in Christ. Christ has freed us from the commandments of men. In matters of conscience, love and freedom are essential because. . . v.4-5 – 1. Idols are nothing; there is only one God. v.6 – 2. There is One Father, one Lord Jesus Christ, who are the source of all things. v.7-8 – 3. Food does not make us better or worse toward God. v.9 – 4. Our Freedom should not be a stumbling block to others. v.10-12 – 5. If we know the consciences of other Christians will be offended, we sin if we encourage them to violate their own consciences and follow us in our freedom. v.13 – 6. We should limit our freedom if we love our brothers and sisters in Christ. If you would like to support my ministry, check out my Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/user/membership?u=16977519. Romans 14:1-23 – "Weak Christians’ Consciences are More Important Than Our Complete Freedom" - UNDERSTANDING OUR CONSCIENCES PART 4

2/1/2023
Our consciences are the inner courts in our hearts that hold us accountable to the right and wrong we believe. Concerning the context of Romans 14, Romans chapters 1-11 provide a comprehensive descriptions of salvation. And Romans 12-16 tell us how to live as a result of being saved by grace through faith in Christ alone. How shall we live? Well, Romans 14 tells us we should limit our freedom around our weaker brothers and sisters in Christ… Why are weak Christians’ consciences more important than our complete freedom? Weak Christians’ consciences are more important than our complete freedom because. . . v. 1-12 - 1. Christ is the Lord of their consciences, not us. v.13-21 - 2. We must encourage our brothers, not cause them to disobey their consciences. v.22-23 – 3. Whatever does not come from faith is sin. Hebrews 9:11-15 - "Only Christ Can Purify Our Evil Consciences" - UNDERSTANDING OUR CONSCIENCES PART 3

1/31/2023
Our consciences are the inner courts in our hearts that hold us accountable to the right and wrong we believe. But our consciences are only good at judging us if they are well-informed by Scripture, and we’re repenting and believing in Christ. Sin has warped all creation, including our consciences. We need Jesus! As Hebrews 10:22 says, “let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.” For, apart from turning to Christ to cleanse our evil consciences, they will not be biblically informed by the Holy Spirit, to where our consciences can accurately and faithfully judge us, keep us from harm, and spur us to loving obedience and faithfulness to God. Christ is the only One who can purify our evil consciences! Why is Christ the only One who can purify our evil consciences? Christ is the only one who can purify our evil consciences because. . . v.11-12 – 1. He is the only One who can secure our eternal redemption. v.13-14 – 2. He is the only One who can purify us from dead works to serve the living God. v.15 – 3. He is the only Mediator of the New Covenant. Acts 24_1-21 - Our Consciences are the Highest Court of Mankind - UNDERSTANDING OUR CONSCIENCES PART 2

1/30/2023
How do we know that our consciences are the highest court of mankind? According to Acts 24:1-21, we know our consciences are the highest court of mankind because. . . v.1-9 – 1. Men accuse based on a person’s outward actions. v.10-21 – 2. Our consciences convict us based on our hearts and their internal motions. Judges 11:29-40 - "Our Consciences are a Guide" - UNDERSTANDING OUR CONSCIENCES PART 1

1/27/2023
"Understanding Our Consciences" 6-part Series INTRO: The book of Judges shows us that God is faithful, keeping His covenant promises to Israel, even when Israel is unfaithful to Him. He is gracious to them. Even though Israel did what was evil in His sight, worshipping Baal and the Ashtaroth, once they were captured or harmed by their enemies, they would eventually cry out in repentance. God would then raise up a judge to deliver them from their enemies. However, even these judges were not mature in their faith, in their relationship with YHWH. They would often deliver Israel but then participate in heinous sin as well. The book of Judges screams out praise to YHWH for His steadfast love and faithfulness, and it also cries out for a King, a King of kings, who will deliver Israel from her enemies once and for all, and who will also rule them in obedience to YHWH. We know God has provided us this King. His name is Jesus Christ. Therefore, Judges serves as a warning to us, concerning what happens to those who do not know God’s word, who do not hide it in their hearts. They go after false gods and commit heinous sins. I. Point 1: A conscience is a moral guide given to all humanity from conception. It is not morally neutral, but is informed by “common grace,” “general revelation,” or “natural law,” and is distorted by sin. Whatever information a conscience has, it judges its owner by, for good or for ill. Consciences can be evil or good, based on what information they are fed with faith. If they are fed with God’s word by the Holy Spirit, believing God’s word, they will judge you according to God’s word. If they are fed with unbiblical lies, believing these lies, they will judge you according to these lies. ILLUS: Canada has legalized assisted-suicide for certain individuals. They’re getting more and more lenient on who qualifies for this. **They’re trying to inform people’s consciences so that they will not feel bad for wanting to take their own lives. This is pure evil. Only God has a right to give life and to take it away. **This reminds me of a documentary I watched called, “The Bridge.” It’s a documentary about the Golden Gate Bridge and how many people choose to jump from it to take their own lives…2-3 per month. So many, in fact, that San Francisco is building a net in under the bridge that will be completed in 2023, they estimate. But in this documentary, there is a couple, a husband and wife. And their son suffered for various reasons. But his father told him to go ahead and take his own life so that he would not suffer anymore. And they interview this couple. And they’re so heart-broken because they miss their son desperately. As I watched that, I thought of the devastating effects of the Devil’s lies! Oh, how people need the word of God! Oh, how they need the hope of the gospel! Jesus saves eternally! Run, run to Him and be saved forever!! He is more valuable than our pain and suffering; and He will never leave us! (Pastor Jeff Wright and I spend about an hour and a half discussing suicide on our podcast, Pop Culture Coram Deo, https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/christian-understanding-suicide-dr-samuel-stephens/id1332025685?i=1000510159920) Consciences can be evil or good… Hebrews 9:14 - how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God. According to Judges 11:29-40, we know our consciences are a guide because. . . v.29-36 – 1. A conscience that disagrees with the Holy Spirit guides us to evil. v.37-40 – 2. Evil consciences guide us to have evil desires, do evil actions, and suffer the consequences.
