Grief, Grace and Gratitude with the Founder of Pearls From My Mom, Jesse Kahat #2

8/13/2017
Overcoming the Loss of a Loved One and Keeping the Legacy Alive “When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure…” Have you ever experienced a loss, whether it’s a pet that you loved the most, a loved one, a family member or a friend? Grieving is a process we have to go through at some point in our lives. In this episode of Grace and Gratitude, I had a good conversation with Jesse Kahat. the Founder of Pearls from My Mom. Jesse started Pearls From My Mom when her mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Her mother has a nice set of pearls which she said she didn’t know what to do with since she wasn’t sure if people wear pearls anymore. Jesse told her the only pearls she truly cares about are the pearls of wisdom she has given her over the years. One day, a chill ran down her spine and she was overcome with terror as she thought to herself “What if, one day my Mom is gone and I can’t remember all of her sparkling pearls of wisdom?” She knew she needed to take action so she started PearlsFromMyMom.com. Jesse’s mom, Sara, passed away on July 2, 2015, and it has been the hardest thing she has ever gone through. Her mom was her best friend and the person she turned to for everything. Losing her mom has awakened a new sense of purpose in her life. This sisterhood/brotherhood is the reason she started the site. She knows there must be others out there like her who want to share the pearls of wisdom that have been handed down to them. Pearls From My Mom s a space to share those pearls, recipes, crafts, laughs, and anything else you want. They can be from your mom, dad, sibling, friend, grandparent- anyone who has given you worthwhile advice. It’s all about sharing to keep the legacy alive… What we talked about: Jesse Kahat’s background and upbringing [1:08] The inspiration behind Pearls From My Mom [2:18] Great lessons learned from her mom [4:40] Going through grief, depression & life’s challenges [6:10] What’s grace and gratitude? [8:25] The world is a reflection of yourself [9:43] Examples of Self Affirmations [10:44] Jesse Kahat as a kind and compassionate person [13:30] How to add more gratitude, joy, love and meaning in your life [14:42] Failures are learning opportunities [15:20] Share your story and your vulnerabilities [16:25] Get in touch with Jesse Kahat: Pearls From My Mom Website Pearls From My Mom Facebook Pearls From My Mom Podcast For more information Visit: www.gratefulandjoyfulsoul.com Facebook: Grateful and Joyful Soul Instagram: @gratefulandjoyfulsoul Music Attribution:Corporate (Success) by Scott Holmes, Corporate (Uplifting) by Scott Holmes http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Scott_Holmes/

Gratitude as a Way of Living, with Gratitude Coach, Georgian Benta of The Gratitude Podcast #1

8/8/2017
Gratitude as a Way of Living Have you ever caught yourself comparing your life to others? Have you ever fell into the trap of wanting more and achieving more yet your life still feels empty? In the first episode of Grace and Gratitude Podcast, I had the privilege to talk to a humble and insightful person, Georgian Benta, a Gratitude Coach, Host and Founder of The Gratitude Podcast. His core message in this interview is gratitude as a way of living. But what does it all mean? How can it help you become more grateful and joyful when you have a bad day and when you are faced with a lot of challenges in life? In this interview, Georgian shares not only about gratitude but he also shares the challenges he currently experiences and the issues he presently deals with. He also explains the importance of breaks and pauses because the brain has a survival mechanism and people have the tendency to always move to the next thing – The next goal, the next big project! Another note worthy insight in our conversation is the reason why some people aren’t satisfied and happy even if they have a lot of money and even if they have achieved a lot of things in life already. And the dangers when you compare yourself to others. Further, if you are in a bumpy relationship right now, his practical gratitude tips and relationship advice will help you bring back some spark and love in your life. What we talked about: Major lessons, tips and advice from gratitude experts [2:09] The importance of rethinking our day [4:25] How can we value the things that we have right now? [6:00] The key secret to appreciating what we have at the present moment [6:32] How to be grateful when we have challenges in life? [8:23] Reliving the first time experience [9:43] The survival mechanism of the brain and the happiness mechanism [11:37] Compare and Despair [13:45] Overcoming relationship challenges [16:23] Gratitude as a way of living [21:35]] How to add more gratitude in your life when you’re having a tough time [26:55] Get in touch with Georgian Benta: www.georgianbenta.com The Gratitude Podcast Facebook 8 Lessons this interview taught me: Being is more important than doing. (Maybe that’s why we are called Human BEings) Intentional pauses, breaks, and reflections are great tools to bring us back to joy. If you want to change your outer world, you have to change your inner world. When you start to change the way you think, you start to change your life. Never compare yourself to anyone else, because your potential is uniquely yours. Gratitude unlocks joy. Thank you is more than a word. Just breathe and celebrate life.
