The gang offers hospitality to the Red Wolf Hunting Party in their time of need, but isn't so kind to the angry cyclops accompanying them. Flicker starts a wildfire. Soft Rains starts a campfire. Skylaer supervises.

The gang begins their exploration of the Carlile Medical Research Outlet in hopes of finding something worthy of River's rite of passage, confirming everything negative they've heard about old human society in the process. Skylaer finds treasure and gets promoted to head of security. Flicker finds treasure and blows himself up. Soft Rains finds absolutely nothing of value and minds his own business.

Without a second to catch their breath, the party is confronted with yet another violent obstacle between them and their destination, although this one is a bit less monstrous. Flicker gets hammered. Soft rains does a diplomacy. Skylær forages for Cheetos.

The gang finally delves into the monster infested portion of the old human city of Sterwin. Some parts are crumbling, others seem eerily stuck in time. Petrified, even. Soft Rains shows off his handcrafted goods and animal handling skills. Skylaer climbs everything in sight. Flicker gets some tail.

With harrowing adventure awaiting them in the morning, the party can't seem to sleep. Flicker, Skylær, and River all sneak out to explore Granthug's bustling nightlife while they have the chance. Antics ensue. Flicker discovers the magic of fruity drinks, Skylær does some extreme climbing, and Soft Rains sticks to his anarcho-primitivist principles.

Flicker, Soft Rains, and Skylær all meet for the first time, unaware that they were volunteered for a group assignment. River and their family make with the reunions and introductions as appropriate, and the party sets off to escort the young magic-user into the city. Sklyær gets sucked into an awkward family moment. Soft Rains consoles a dear friend. Flicker lays the hammer down.
