Who is going to start? A last-minute 70.3 World Championship preview

11/6/2025
This week, Laura Siddall joins us an Ironman 70.3 World Championships preview. But first Kelly & Sid dive straight into the 2026 Ironman qualification drama that isn't going away — and probably won't go away any time soon. While Ironman had promised a fairer, more balanced system with 30–35% of total slots for women, the actual allocations of the "performance pool" spots are coming in closer to just 5%. Let your voices be heard, Feisties, and reach out to Ironman so they can hear your concerns! Then from frustration to anticipation: We turn our focus to this weekend’s 70.3 World Championships in Marbella, Spain. Even though we're barely over 24 hours from the women's race, the start list continues to change. It's Kelly's favorite race of the year and you can catch it LIVE on Outside TV with the women at 11 p.m. PT Friday/2 a.m. ET Saturday (but North Americans may need to pull an all-nighter to catch it!) Pro cycling v. pro triathlon with Maya Kingma

10/31/2025
She's won a WTCS, she's been 7th at the Olympics, and she's raced in the women's Giro! Maya Kingma joins Kelly, Joanne, and Katie to talk all things swim-bike-run... and bike. First, she helps us tackle the big question: With so many series now on the calendar, how are pros supposed to choose? Between WTCS, T100, and Ironman races, it’s getting tougher to balance travel, recovery, and top-level performance week after week. And attract viewers. Then, Maya Kingma tries to explain what the heck is going on with the Dutch federation — who, she says, have chose to remove individual triathlon from their Olympic program?! And you thought it was going to be a slow week. Join our Winter Training for Cyclists Program at https://feisty.co/ and look for the yellow banner at the top of the page. Use code TRI50 to save $50. What happened in Wollongong!? And a first look at 70.3 Worlds

10/24/2025
The gang’s finally all here! Joanne’s somewhere between the post-Kona high and a jet lag hangover, but that’s not stopping us from diving into what’s next. First up: The World Triathlon Championship Finals in Wollongong. From the surprising upset in the elite race (and why it was surprising) to Katie's picks for the up-and-comers to watch and a few of our favorite para world champs. Plus, a couple of the big headlines from the biggest week for World Triathlon: And of course, a quick update on the new 2026 Ironman World Championship qualification process and why people are upset. Then we take our first look at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship start list. Yes, it’s definitely going to change in the coming weeks, but to begin: who’s in, who’s missing, and who might not make it to the start line.

A Wollongong World Championship Preview

10/17/2025

Hoka x Feisty: LIVE Post-Race Reflections with Taylor Knibb, Daniela Ryf, and Gwen Jorgensen

10/12/2025
Welcome to a unique Feisty x HOKA post-Ironman World Championship event — teaming up for a live celebration brunch and panel discussion in Kona, featuring some amazing age-group and local athletes, and special guests Taylor Knibb, Daniela Ryf, and Gwen Jorgensen. First, we hear inspiring stories from the women who raced as part of the IRONMAN Foundation (some for their first time) and from the local athletes who were selected in the Hawaii athlete lottery program. They open up about getting to the start and finish line — and they lessons they learned along the way. Then, the pros take the mic. Taylor Knibb walks us through yesterday's unforgettable IRONMAN World Championship race, including collapsing while in the lead with less than two miles to go. She’s poignant, funny, and as humble as ever, and there’s no doubt she’ll be back on the Big Island in the years to come. Plus, five-time IRONMAN World Champion Daniela Ryf and Olympic gold medalist Gwen Jorgensen share their insights, whether they wanted to be out there during one of the craziest races this island has seen, and their own advice for bouncing back when things go sideways.

We're Back B*tches #6: The Post-Race Show

10/12/2025
THAT WAS CRAZY! We're back after a wild Ironman World Championship race that saw one former world champion drop out early on the bike (Chelsea Sodaro), another defending champ here DNF in the heat (Lucy Charles-Barclay), and then race leader Taylor Knibb collapse with less than two miles to go. We hear from our new 2025 Ironman World Champion Solveig Løvseth — completing the Norwegian sweep of the Ironman titles this year. And then we chat with most of the podium post-race and in the press conferences. Including: It was a big day, and we've got all the post-Kona analysis!

We're Back B*tches #5: Press Conference & Race Day Vibes with Announcer, Joanne Murphy

10/10/2025
On the eve of the IRONMAN World Championship, we’re joined by Feisty co-host and official race announcer Joanne Murphy, who somehow survives a week of wall-to-wall press conferences, interviews, banquets, and race-day hype—without totally losing her voice (or her mind). We talk about what it's actually like behind the scenes in Kona, how she preps for the chaos, and why she still makes time to soak in the magic. This year’s theme? Resilience. We’ve got highlights from the pro press conference and voices from two women who know this race inside and out: Diana Bertsch, IRONMAN’s SVP of World Championship Events, and Hall of Famer Cherie Gruenfeld. They remind us what makes this place—and this race—so legendary. Want to watch the action live? We're Back B*tches #4: Live Kona Preview Show with Daniela Ryf

10/9/2025
The Queen is back — but this time, she’s not racing. In this episode, Sara and Kelly catch up with 10-time world champion Daniela Ryf, who’s traded her dominance on the race course for a full plate of new roles — from launching a documentary about life after sport, to running her foundation in Kenya, to working with Felt and a fitness tech startup. Daniela opens up about: She also gives us a sneak peek at her charity bike raffle (yes, you could win her actual Kona bike!) and shares her predictions for this year’s women’s race — from Lucy’s early lead to the all-out run showdown that might break course records. And, of course, she revisits that legendary jellyfish year — how she pushed through pain, found focus, and turned what could have ended her race into one of the greatest Kona comebacks ever. We're Back B*tches #3: Legends and this year's favorites with Julie Moss

10/8/2025
Today, Sara's co-host is none other than triathlon legend Julie Moss — the woman who quite literally put Ironman on the map with her unforgettable 1982 crawl to the finish line. Julie shares stories from those early, wild-west days of triathlon (think: oranges for fuel, very little training, and “research” that involved signing up for an Ironman as a college project), and reflects on what it means to be back on the Big Island for this final all-women’s World Championship. Speaking of legends, we also chat with two IRONMAN World Champions on race week vibes: Chelsea Sodaro: on why she’ll always see herself as an underdog — even with a world title under her belt. Laura Phillipp: on why racing on the Big Island is wildly different than Nice and how she's been practicing those sprint finishes -- just in case. We're Back B*tches #2: Getting more women into triathlon with USAT CEO (and Kona first-timer) Vic Brumfield

10/7/2025
USAT CEO and first-time Kona racer Vic Brumfield joins the show to share what inspired her to take on the Ironman World Championship and how she's approaching race day. They then dive into what it takes to bring more women into multisport and barriers women face—returning to racing after pregnancy, the time and financial demands of training, the need for more family-friendly race options and accessible coaching, and just seeing other women do it. Speaking of: We also hear from Ironman champ Skye Moench, who is making her much-anticipated post-partum return to professional long-course racing — with the Ironman World Championship as her very first race back! Skye talks about her mindset heading into the race, how "fit enough" is good enough, and the challenges and changes of getting to this start line. We're Back B*tches #1: What is going on with Kona qualification?!

10/6/2025
We’re back on sacred ground, Feisties. LIVE from the iconic Canoe Club in Kona, we’re here all week to bring you the real stories, deep conversations, and unfiltered energy from the Big Island as the waves roll in and the sun sets on what may be the final all-women’s Ironman World Championship. In this kickoff episode, we go deep on the moment we’re in—how we got here and why it matters. And, we start with the big question on everyone's mind: With only 1,500 slots for women this year (compared to 2,300 for men in Nice)... seriously, WHY?! Here’s what we break down: But this isn’t just a critique—it’s a celebration too and we're going to make sure the pros get center stage all week long. Today, we hear from three incredible pro women toeing the line this Saturday: Tamara Jewett – On racing an all-women's Kona and her very real feelings about sharks. Jackie Hering – Reflecting on being a pro at 41 and still loving the grind. Solveig Løvseth – Is the Norwegian wave just getting started on the women’s side? The vibes are chill (for now), but the energy is building—and we’ll be here all week, bringing you the voices and stories that matter from the Big Island. Kona FOMO: A Pre-Race Week Ironman World Championship Preview with Mirinda Carfrae

10/3/2025
Who better to talk Kona than 3x IRONMAN World Champion Mirinda Carfrae? This week, the crew welcomes Rinny back to the mic to catch us up on first ultra-marathon and the shift from pro racing to what keeps her motivated now — with some tips for co-host Katie Zaferes on navigating the post-retirement, post-partum workouts. The team also discusses the big races of the past weekend: WTCS Weihai — Beth Potter and Cassandre Beaugrand are tied (!) going into the final — and the wild XTERRA World Champs. But let’s be real — the big focus this week? The last all-women’s IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, going down Saturday, October 11. We break down a field that’s absolutely stacked — from short-course phenoms like Solveig Løvseth and Julie Derron, to seasoned pros like Kat Matthews, Taylor Knibb, and Holly Lawrence. Oh, and don’t forget the three former world champs in the mix: Laura Philipp, Lucy Charles-Barclay, and Chelsea Sodaro. And rising stars like Marjolaine Pierre are also coming in hot. All world championships all the time — plus a pre-Kona update from Chelsea Sodaro

9/26/2025
Ironman race announcer-rockstar Joanne Murphy is back from her three-country triathlon whirlwind—Belgium, Nice, and Wales—and gives us the vibe checks from the last men's Ironman World Championship in France. Plus, why are the crowds so electric in places like Tenby, Wales and Jersey, in the Channel islands? What makes these races unforgettable? It's a quick recap of the results from the weekend: Supertri Jersey, T100 Spain, Ironman Wales. And then it's all eyes forward on the epic Kona start list for the women's Ironman World Championship in October. Chelsea Sodaro joins for an update after her last big Kona training block, and to chat about what she's been up to this year and why she's excited to be putting on a charity weekend bike & wine event in support of For All Mothers+. The team also goes deep on the question of postpartum training, and balancing triathlon with parenting. Then, because it’s championship season, we've got a second special guest! Kelly also talks with mountain bike marathon national champ Hannah Otto ahead of the Xterra World Championships in Trentino, Italy this weekend. While she's a mountain bike racer and Leadville champ now, Hannah got her start in triathlon and has great advice for anyone looking to keep the fun, community, and excitement in their training. Going For It: A World Triathlon Championship Series Debrief with Taylor Spivey

9/19/2025
Fresh off her second-place finish at the World Triathlon Championship Series race in Karlovy Vary, Taylor Spivey joins the Feisty Tri podcast to break down the breakthrough performance. Taylor and Katie Zaferes talk World Triathlon and draft-legal strategy, how tactics have changed over their careers, and how the race dynamics played out differently with a hard bike course in Karlovy Vary. When you decide to race from the front or make a break, what do you tell yourself? Taylor also updates us on where in the world she is these days, the perils of living out of a suitcase, and they compare notes on moving between short-course and long-course — what's the most challenging part of that transition. Is there an Ironman in the future? Plus, the group chats about the impressive showing from former short-course athletes at the men's Ironman World Championship in Nice this past weekend. Did the course uniquely suit short-course draft-legal athletes? Discuss. Short-course is exciting, too! with Non Stanford

9/12/2025
This week, Katie Zaferes and Kelly O'Mara are joined by former British world champ turned high-performance coach Non Stanford to talk about why short-course racing is the most exciting — don't miss WTCS Karlovy Vary this weekend! — and what she's trying to build now as a coach. Non talks about moving from Brit Tri into a leadership role with Triathlon Australia (as well as a move to the Gold Coast), her shift from elite racing to coaching, and how she’s balancing athlete demands ahead of Brisbane 2032. She and Katie swap and compare notes on what they took away from racing and training and how they're building their coaching environments now. They also dive into: Plus: A preview of WTCS Karlovy Vary and why you should get excited for mixed relays! External iliac artery surgery and a report from the French Riviera with Fenella Langridge & Hannah Berry

9/5/2025
Kelly, Joanne, and Katie are joined this week by a duo of pro triathletes training and traveling together, Fenella Langridge and Hannah Berry. The two help the squad break down this past big weekend of racing — with a from-the-ground report from Hannah on the T100 French Riviera course and her 6th place finish. Plus, Fenella and Hannah dive into the differences between racing in Kona vs. Nice ahead of the men's Ironman World Championship next week (and which courses they preferred). And, everyone's picks for which male athletes the Nice course could suit, and who'd they want to party with. Plus, important questions like: Where is the after party in Nice? And: Do they watch other pros' Youtube channels? Then, Fenella explains external iliac artery endofibrosis, what symptoms she had all of last year, why it seems like so many pro women are dealing with this, and how she's recovering from surgery. Her sights are set now on Ironman Western Australia at the end of the year. But first the two head to Kona — Hannah to race, Fenella to train and support and cheer. A big weekend of racing & the start of championship season — plus, reports from SuperTri

8/29/2025
Fresh off her adventures in Switzerland and France, Joanne Murphy rejoins the pod to recap her recent travels, including her time announcing at Ironman 70.3 Vichy and the Epic Series mountain bike race. Meanwhile, Kelly returned to racing in style at the Chicago Triathlon — by Supertri! The event brought huge participation numbers and maybe — just maybe — signs that mass participation triathlons are making a real comeback. While there, Kelly caught up with Supertri podium stars Jeanne Lehair and Georgia Taylor-Brown, who offered up their race-day reactions and gave us a peek at what’s ahead. (Seven races in seven weeks for Georgia!) Plus, a conversation with Dare2tri co-founder Keri Serota about the organization's mission to empower athletes with physical disabilities and visual impairments to try triathlon. Then the crew looks ahead to a jam-packed race weekend: T100 French Riviera, the new joint WTCS (and which athletes are doing both), and the final IM Pro Series race pre-championships at Zell am See 70.3. Katie, Joanne, and Kelly also some corrections for the record and some questions about what's to come. It all kicks off championship season! 8/15/2025
While Joanne is off announcing races in Switzerland, Kelly and Katie are joined by guest co-host Chelsea Burns (also the host of Chasing the Burn). Chelsea brings her own feist with a brand new pick for race of the year, insights into track rivalries, what athletes deal with in the year after the Olympics, and how she really feels about ever racing triathlon again. And, they look ahead to the final Kona qualifying race and the great Kona debate over same day championship racing, She also shares her experience running a youth triathlon camp in Boulder, dives into the pros and cons of AI coaching (we're thinking mostly cons), and gives a sneak peek into her own racing goals — including ultra-running and podcasting life. This one’s full of laughs, hot takes, and deep dives into real life racing and coaching. Plus, we get some throwbacks from when Katie and Chelsea used to race together. Get to know the 3x XTERRA World champ Solenne Billouin

8/8/2025
Katie Zaferes is back! This time with four-week-old baby Josie in her arms and a new perspective on the not-so-linear road back to training. She catches us up about the chaos of early motherhood and coaching, while trying to stay connected to elite-level triathlon — with all the honesty and humor we've come to expect. And with the whole gang back, they took the chance to dive into the latest: previewing the T100 London race this upcoming weekend, debating the newest PTO news, getting the inside scoop on last week's surprise Supertri winner, and correcting the record on a few things the team may have wildly speculated about. Then, we’re thrilled to welcome three-time XTERRA World Champion Solenne Billouin, who shares her journey from cycling to off-road dominance to the world of 70.3 road racing. She gets real about the mental grind of elite performance, the learning curve of switching disciplines, and why she’s not a huge fan of the phrase “dream big.” Leave us a Voicemail: https://www.speakpipe.com/feistytriathlon Follow us on Instagram: @feistytriathlon Feisty Media Website: https://livefeisty.com/ Support Feisty Triathlon Partners: Hettas: Use the code STAYFEISTY for 20% off at hettas.com Orca: Get 15% off with code FEISTY15 at https://www.orca.com Previnex: Get 15% off your first order with the code FEISTYTRI at https://www.previnex.com/ Xterra: Looking for a new race adventure?
