Ryan Tootell and Colter Nuanez sat down with Martin Breunig and Bobby Moorehead, who both played for current University of Montana head men's basketball coach Travis Decuire, to learn about what it was like to play for Coach DeCuire. Breunig was recruited to the University of Montana by Wayne Tinkle and his staff from the University of Washington, but Tinkle left for Oregon State after Breunig had sat out a year after transferring. Breunig was a dominant force for Coach DeCuire averaging 17.8 points and 8.2 rebounds during his time in Missoula. He was also a two-time first-team All-Big Sky Conference selection and won Newcomer of the Year in 2014-15 (:08). Moorehead has the record for most career starts in the Grizzly basketball program and a key contributor on back-to-back NCAA Tournament teams. He currently is still living in Missoula and doing color for SWX's Montana basketball broadcasts (14:19).

Andrew Strait came to the University of Montana from Yakima, WA and finished as one of the top-10 scorers in program history (4:51). Jordan Hasquet went to Missoula Sentinel and is from one of the best basketball families in the state of Montana and has more memories with Coach Krystkowiak and Tinkle than just having played for them in college (21:02).

Larry Krystkowiak returned to Missoula to become the head coach of the Montana Grizzlies after playing a dozen years of professional basketball and stints as an assistant coach under Don Holst and Blaine Taylor. As the head coach of the Montana Grizzlies, he led back-to-back NCAA Tournament teams before leaving to become an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Bucks, and he is the last Big Sky Conference head coach to win a game in the NCAA Tournament when the 12th seeded Grizzlies knocked off #5 seed Nevada in the first round. He has used that sweet shooting stroke to carry him to a 16-year career in professional basketball that has brought him all over the world from places like Butte to Brussels.

He is an interesting figure in the University of Montana men's basketball coaching lineage because he did not descend from Jud Heathcote or anyone else that had been the head coach at the University of Montana before. When he left Missoula, he became the head coach at Towson University for seven seasons. Scott Zanon had two older brothers who played basketball at the University of Montana, and he followed their footsteps to Missoula. He spent four years playing basketball under Mike Montgomery and Stew Morrill and also played on the hardwood with Larry Krystowiak and Wayne Tinkle before a long career working for Nike. Zanon's best season was his senior season with Morrill as the head coach when he averaged 17.1 points for a team that finished third in the Big Sky Conference.

Hays scored 32 points against UCLA in the Sweet Sixteen during his senior season, and he also eventually was a graduate assistant under Heathcote at Michigan State before becoming the boy's basketball head coach at Hellgate High School in Missoula (4:24). Ben DeMers was a standout at Sentinel High School in Missoula before continuing on at the University of Montana and playing under Coach Heathcote and Coach Brandenburg when they were the head coach. DeMers was also on that legendary Sweet Sixteen squad and played with Michael Ray Richardson (35:29).
