The bronze medallist from the previous Europeans in Berlin fought off a challenge from Dutch hurdler Ramsey Angela to win in 49.49 seconds, though both were well clear of the rest. Phil Healy's fourth place in the women's 400 metres has been the best Irish result so far at the European Indoor Athletics Championships in Torun.
