In this episode of #NowOnTheTee we speak with Indiana Golf Executive Director, Mike David who discusses the recent release of the 2022 Economic Impact Study. This study displayed some heavy numbers showing that Golf is a significant driver of economic activity across the State of Indiana through direct operational expenditures and capital investment, as well as the attraction of golf tourism, golf-related retail spending and new home construction in golf communities. We speak with the 2023 Golf Professional of the Year - Patrick White, and the Teacher of the Year- Bill Pollert. Dr. Sailes is a retired Indiana University professor in the Sports Management program who focused on African Americans in American Sport. We discuss his current focus of getting more persons of color into the upper level of the game, Douglass Golf Course serving as a model for other courses around the country, and the changes in the landscape of golf ultimately providing more opportunities for junior golfers today.
