Previewing the CAA with Bold Predictions for Each Men's Team (ft. Tommy Glasgow of Holy City Hoops)

10/26/2022
John Kearns is out this week, but Brendan is joined by frequent guest and friend of the program Tommy Glasgow, of the Holy City Hoops podcast and blog focusing on College of Charleston basketball. Brendan and Tommy give their thoughts on the new additions to the CAA and the league's positioning before running through this year's recently released men's preseason poll. We preview each team by providing a bold prediction and focusing on some big questions - who's the best incoming team, what gives with all the roster turnover this season, and should Towson actually be the consensus favorite in the league? Then, we briefly touch on the women's preseason poll, Charleston's rapid rise in the league, and W&M's two preseason All-CAA First Team selections. Lastly, Tommy and Brendan each give their "One Thing" for the week before signing off this episode of The NBN Pod. Have a question for for us on the pod? W&M Introduces Dickerson Davis as Head Women's Coach, Plus Transfer Portal Talk

4/21/2022
Brendan, John, and Cameron fought through massive technical difficulties recording this pod to bring our analysis to you, the people, as there was big news in the W&M world in the past couple of weeks. First, the Tribe has settled on Erin Dickerson Davis as their new head women's basketball coach. What do we think of the fit, and how was her introductory presser? Then, we move onto the most incendiary topic in college basketball -- the transfer portal. With 7 Tribe players now in the portal, what was our initial reaction? 2022 Men's CAA Tournament Preview!

3/4/2022
THIS. IS. MARCH... not that it ever means anything more than pain for a W&M basketball fan. After debating the origins of the "so you're telling me there's a chance" GIF, Brendan, Cameron, and John jump into a preview of the men's CAA Tournament. The 8-seed Tribe takes on 9-seed Northeastern Saturday in the play-in game. What happened the last time these teams took the floor together, and what does the Tribe need to do to ensure it doesn't happen again? This morphs into a broader discussion of W&M's lack of growth and Dane Fischer's job security. Then, we talk the rest of the tournament -- what quarterfinal games are most interesting, and who's our pick to cut down the nets? Next, as the regular season has finished, we pick our All-CAA teams, Player-of-the-Year, Coach-of-the-Year, and Rookie-of-the-Year. Then, we close up shop -- we're excited to see what happens this weekend and we'll recap it all next week. Have a question for for us on the pod? More CAA Realignment, More WBB Wins, More MBB Struggles

2/23/2022
We're hitting the stretch run of conference play, and there's a lot for Cameron and Brendan to talk about as we move toward March. First, we open the episode discussing the CAA's addition of North Carolina A&T which came together officially very quickly. With 13 schools in for basketball, is another addition on the way and which schools make the most sense? Next, we discuss the Tribe men's continued struggles, as they have now lost seven in a row. Both games this week were winnable -- what happened in each, and where is the Tribe positioned for the conference tournament? Then, we talk the women, who are now on a four-game winning streak. We highlight some of the most impressive performances from the weekend and look ahead to a tough pair of games against Drexel and Delaware. Finally, we hit our Shoutouts and Step Ups, give our One Thing, and then head out. Have a question for for us on the pod? Fire it over to brendan@nobidnation.com or tweet at us @NoBidNation. A Winning Week For The Women

2/17/2022
Cameron is absent this week, so John and Brendan work their way through the weekend that was for W&M basketball, starting with a 2-1 week for the women's team. What did they show in those three contests, and what can be carried forward? Meanwhile, the men's squad lost three straight with varying levels of moral victory in each -- a little bit against Towson, almost none against JMU, and a fair amount vs. UNCW. We go through the three games and share our frustrations and optimism. Then, with less than a month to go before the CAA Tournament, we take a look at both W&M's positioning for the tournament as well as the top of the league for both the men's and women's side. After that, we briefly look forward to All In Weekend and the Tribe's games, before finishing with Shoutouts and Step Ups and our One Thing. Have a question for for us on the pod? Fool's Golden Weekend

2/10/2022
It was a great weekend in every way but one -- no wins on the basketball court. After our trip to Williamsburg to see some hoops, Brendan, John, and Cameron return to discuss the weekend that was. They start with the women, as a familiar theme picked up where it left off: what's up with those third quarters? And what did we see in the Tribe's tough loss to JMU that could be carried forward? Then, we move onto the men's games -- Thursday's game we're glad only Cameron got to watch, and the Gold Rush contest on Saturday that didn't go the way we hoped. What happened out there against UNCW? That discussion morphs into a conversation about the philosophy of player development and whether we think Dane Fischer's offense is best suited for this group of players. Eventually, we move into this coming weekend and how many wins we think each team will pick up as we move towards the stretch run of conference play. Lastly, we hit our Shout Outs and Step-Ups and then finish up on our One Thing. Have a question for for us on the pod? Fire it over to brendan@nobidnation.com or tweet at us @NoBidNation. Previewing An Exciting Gold Rush Weekend!

2/1/2022
It's finally one of our favorite weekends of the year -- Gold Rush Weekend in Kaplan Arena. We'll be there and we'll be loud, and you better be too. We open up with a look back at the men's 1-1 weekend against Elon -- what's our takeaway from the weekend? Then we discuss an 0-2, but encouraging, weekend for the women, and what's going right for them now. After our look back, we look forward to the Golden Weekend to come. The W&M men lost on a buzzer-beater to Charleston last time, what do they need to do to extend the Kaplan Kurse on Thursday night? Friday night, the Towson women come to town and we look at how the Tribe can avoid the beatdown that happened in their last matchup. Then Saturday is Gold Rush! How does the Tribe match up with the CAA-leading UNCW Seahawks? Finally, JMU visits for the Golden Game and we talk about how both teams are much different than they were just a few weeks ago. Before we go, we give our Shout Outs and Step Ups and One Thing. Have a question for for us on the pod? Fire it over to brendan@nobidnation.com or tweet at us @NoBidNation. CAA Adds Three More Schools, Plus Encouraging Signs From A 0-3 Tribe Hoops Weekend

1/20/2022
In slow breaking news from the last week, the CAA is adding Hampton, Monmouth, and Stony Brook, and we are here to break it down. Brendan, Cameron and John first discuss what this means for W&M and the ideal conference fit for the Tribe, before we each come up with dream CAA additions. Then, we move onto a subpar weekend for the Tribe, with the men losing both their contests and the women dropping their only game. We look at the encouraging signs through those games before playing a game of buy or sell. Skipping over Shout-Outs and Step Ups, we move onto our One Thing before closing up shop. So, 2-0 In The CAA... What Happened???

1/14/2022
The Tribe is 2-0 in the CAA on the men's side, and Brendan, John and Cameron are here to figure out... exactly how that happened. First the guys catch up before jumping into basketball talk. We recap the Hofstra and Northeastern games at home and their exciting conclusions, walk though the individual contributions that made them possible, and what parts of this run are sustainable? Then, we briefly discuss the horrendous week on the women's side with two lopsided losses before taking a look at the CAA at large -- is Towson really the best team both in the men's and women's league? Merry Tribemas

12/23/2021
Brendan, Cameron, and John join forces for the greatest holiday-themed episode of W&M basketball audio ever created. We regale you with "'Twas the Night Before Tribemas" in the cold open, then open the episode talking about various holidays before getting into the basketball. We recap the last couple of weeks on both the men's and women's side, while giving our thoughts on the results but not getting too deep. Then, we go through our W&M basketball Christmas lists, with some input from listeners. Finally, we each have our "One Thing" -- by John's suggestion, a holiday tradition we're looking forward to. Two Big, or Not Two Big

12/9/2021
That is the question, for Dane Fischer at least. Brendan, Cameron, and John begin the episode going over the Tribe men's past week, three losses of various quality, including an encouraging performance against Old Dominion. We then discuss W&M's defense, and debate the merits of Fischer playing centers Ben Wight and Langdon Hatton together for long stretches. We follow that up with a recap of the women's week, and talk about Sydney Wagner's slow start and what it means for the Tribe. Then, we play a quick round of Shout-Outs and Step-Ups, give our One Thing, and get outta there. Have a question for for us on the pod? Resetting Our Expectations

12/1/2021
With the basketball season a couple of weeks in, we have a little better of an idea who each W&M team is, so Brendan, John and Cameron discuss expectations moving forward. First, we discuss the men's team's rough start to the season. With zero D-I wins, what's the biggest issue for the Tribe? What would determine a successful season? Meanwhile, the women's team has looked good, with a winning record through five games. What has the biggest surprise been so far this year? Then, we take a moment to talk about the recent gifts to the Kaplan renovation, and the naming opportunities associated with it. Have a question for for us on the pod?
