I share my personal experience of my mother wanting me to marry a UK national and talk about a friend who had a negative experience when they married someone from their ethnic country. In addition, I cover the different expectations that exist within the Muslim community when it comes to marriage, including the same religious background, education, and language as well as physical attributes. I also discuss the concept of arranged marriages and the stigma around dating within the Muslim community. I emphasize the importance of finding a partner who is both attractive and supportive, as well as the importance of understanding someone’s background and culture.
