When she met John Brown, it didn't take long for her to realize he wasn't the right guy for her. After she broke it off, though, John became obsessed and violent, assaulting Laurie, stalking her, and finally attempting to kill them both in a murder-suicide. But she was stronger and more determined than he thought she would be, and she fought her way back and used her experience to help people who really needed her understanding. The Hillside Strangler, or later called the Hillside Stranglers, were American serial killers who terrorized Los Angeles, California, between October 1977 and February 1978, with the nickname originating from the fact that many of the victims' bodies were discovered in the hills surrounding LA. The perpetrators were cousins, Kenneth Bianchi and Angelo Buono Jr., who were eventually convicted of kidnapping, torturing, and murdering 10 women and girls ranging in age from 12 to 28.
