Today's episode of Drunk Women Solving Crime sees a very capable detective join the force in the form of mystery crime writer Emma Flint! Emma tells us how an incident she was privy to in early life ignited her career as crime author before the gang then chip away at a case where nothing is set in stone. As always, we hear from a listener and this time the story definitely doesn't have a PG rating! What better way to herald the resurrection of weekly episodes than the return of the wonderful Michelle de Swarte to the show? The gang was thrilled to welcome Michelle back, this time in front of a live audience at the first DWSC London Residency of 2024. Luckily for everyone, Michelle has been victim of a crime more than once, and so had a fresh story to share with the crowd, before reminding us of her incredible detective abilities, soon finding her feet on the force, and helping to solve a tawdry tale of sweaty beasts and demanding dandies, which may, or may not involve an icon from history. As always, we round off the show with a story from a member of the audience, and in this case the perpetrator certainly operated with intent. But, it's not Men's Month, we hear those of you who are listening to this on release in February 2024 cry.... Yes, true, but Toby Williams isn't any old man, he's an actor, writer AND he married and impregnated our very own Hannah George, so it's actually well overdue that we hear from Mr HG himself. And what better occasion for him to grace the stage than when DWSC was live at the Ventnor Fringe, Hannah's home town on the Isle of Wight. As well as Toby confessing some criminal activity that could well see his marriage on the rocks (being 8 years old is NO excuse), the team also delves into a local crime proving that despite its twee image, the Isle of Wight is a hotbed of vice. We finish proceedings by hearing from somebody in the audience about a crime which originates in Taylor's homeland, which distracted her from the urge to climb-up the rigging of the tent at least!
