LOK was the second Memphis station to offer programming directed entirely to the black audience. The station purchased and moved to a new building at the corner of Talbot and S. Second in 1958. In 1977, this radio station became the first Memphis radio station owned by African Americans. It is now the #1 Gospel Radio Station in Memphis and a favorite among visiting DJs, In 1963 WLOK changed to its current frequency of 1340.
