105.9 Academy FM is the Community Radio station for the Folkestone area. What we do is unique. We are based in the Folkestone Academy school, and broadcast to the local area on 105.9 FM and online. We have a small team of staff and a large group of volunteers, many of whom present on the radio. We do a lot of work with young people - they are trained in radio production and along the way learn self-confidence, team-working and communication skills. We regularly put children as young as 12 on the radio. Our programmes are interesting, funny, and local. We broadcast a vibrant mix of chart hits and classic tunes, as well as up to the minute local news and interviews. Because we’re a Community Station we’re proud to play music made right here in Kent, every hour, every day.
