576. “I’m starting a product business from scratch. What foundational steps do I need to know to avoid mistakes?” | Coaching Session

4/11/2024
Welcome to another coaching episode! Today, I'm speaking with Mystral, a massage therapist and energy worker out of New York City. Her service-based business is growing well, but an idea for a product-based business naturally spun off from it that she wants to explore. She wants to launch a tea business with as few mistakes as possible. First we start with ideation, then making the product, and then moving on to branding. Each step builds up to the next. We start by honing in on what she's actually going to sell, and then go over what it costs to make the product. From there, we take a look at how to price and position her teas to make sure she's selling for not only a profit, but also to the right people. I applaud Mystral for seeking out support in these early stages of her product-based business to give her the fast-track to success. That’s what the Product Boss is all about: giving you the tools you need to avoid the mistakes most product business owners make! 573. This is Why You're Not Making Sales in Your Product Business

4/1/2024
There are four foundational pieces of product-based businesses that I see people skip over all the time. If you’re struggling to make sales, chances are you’ve skipped one of them. In this episode, I discuss each one and why they are so important to have to grow your business. They are: Nail your niche, nail your brand, nail your price and offer and nail your marketing across channels. There’s a lot that goes into each one, but don’t worry, I cover it all. A lot of times these get skipped because they feel fuzzy, unclear, or even uncomfortable. We all have different seasons of life and as a result, sometimes it can be hard to dive back into something, like your product business, with as much passion and excitement as you previously had. After 20 years of coaching product bosses and running my own product businesses, I can immediately recognize certain gaps and missteps that happen in almost every new business. What steps would I take, and in what order, to make sure that I’m creating a foundation in my product business to get in front of my customers and make consistent sales from? 569. Should You Stay in a Plateau or Push for More Growth?

3/18/2024
Plateaus in product-based business can be good or bad, depending on different factors. In this episode, we talk about why it's important to do an honest assessment of your business to figure out if you’re in a much-needed plateau or if you should be pushing for more growth immediately. Not every year is meant to have massive quantum leaps in growth– no matter how much we’d love if that was the case! Some years are meant for stabilization. After all, the foundation of your product-business can actually crack and start to fail if you grow too quickly in a short period of time. Sometimes you need to shift from growth mode to maintenance mode and re-assessing your systems and operations to ensure your business is ready to successfully grow to that next level. Tune into this episode to learn how to figure out the difference between good plateaus vs. bad plateaus. Understanding them can make all the difference in achieving the lifestyle you’ve envisioned for yourself and taking your business to that next revenue level! 563. TikTok Insider Gives Us the Scoop

2/26/2024
Have you thought about selling your products on TikTok? In this episode, we have a TikTok insider walk us through setting up a TikTok Store and using its affiliate program. The first thing you should know about getting a TikTok Store (not to be confused with TikTok Business) is that it can be quick and easy. It usually only takes a day or two for your TikTok store account to be approved and go live. Then you can simply link the Shopify account you already use to sell your products. TikTok will sync with your Shopify inventory on an ongoing basis. You also have the option to manually input your products to your TikTok store natively. Now let’s talk money. TikTok charges 2% plus thirty cents on transactions. The other money item: You can pay independent creators to market your products. There are two ways to do this: Shop Plan and Targeted Plan. In Shop Plan, you upload your product to the TikTok affiliate marketplace and then affiliates (TikTokers who have atleast 5,000 followers) can choose a product to market for you based on a sales-only commission. Targeted Plan is a little more involved– you can evaluate creators’ target audiences, success rate, etc., then choose one based on how well you think they fit your product. If you want to tap into the hot TikTok market, this episode is a can’t miss! Resources: TikTok ShopA Year of ContentA Year of Content MastermindApply today.
